Birds Custard is Best - none other like it!
I have been using this product for over 40yrs. I have come to tweak my method to making it without any clumps. I eat it mostly hot right after I make it. Have also had it cold the next day. Can be used in trifles and other deserts. Great product. Have always used Bird Custard! It is smooth, the thickness can be adjusted using more or less powder. It’s my favorite comfort food!

Product destroyed prior to packaging
I received the product which was boxed with such force the bottom of the product container blew out. Damage was not done by deliverly driver, the exterior box was fine, the contents inside the box looked as if it was on the front lines of WWW III.Product arrived in an unusable condition and I am an unhappy customer.

I love this stuff!
I've been a fan of Bird's custard since I was little and my siblings brought some back from the UK. It works with dairy or non-dairy milk products (I typically use soymilk). To avoid lumps, treat this like you would cornstarch and make a slurry with a bit of cold milk first, and then add it to the hot milk in the pot. You can add flavors to the hot milk (like steeping tea in it) or after its done (like a drop of rum and chopped bananas). If you want something super rich, try making it with heavy cream and adding a little bit of unsalted butter at the end. Would also be cool to use eggnog and a dash of nutmeg for the holidays. :)

Instructions not so good
My main problem with this is that it didn't... custard. There are instructions on the canister for preparing it in the microwave, which I did, but it never thickened up. Even after chilling.I'm guessing making it on the stove top is the way to go, but I haven't tried it yet. Also, the canister design makes it really hard to use without covering your kitchen in powder. It flies up and out everywhere, clings to everything, stays on the outside of the canister. Just generally a nuisance. And it didn't taste especially good. With the amount of work and cleanup required, it's not much of an extra step to just make custard from scratch.
