Great game for word-lovers! Not so much for strategy-minded.
My family played this game while I was growing up, and I LOVE it!! Now that I'm married, I play it with my husband's family, and they don't care for it at all. The game is probably enjoyed most by those who are more inclined toward word games like Scrabble Deluxe , Scattergories and Balderdash . My family loved those games because we are all good at them. My husband's family plays more strategy and role-playing games, so they didn't care for it.Educationally speaking, the game doesn't necessarily teach anything, but it does keep the brain working. And there is a small element of strategy to it, as you must determine when to call out which words and which turn you're more likely to get more points on.Overall, love the game. So glad to have found it here!

Terrific game!
We have owned this game for years and had some teens over for a get-together. My husband got out Wordsters and it was a hit! They loved it so I got for my nieces (who were part of the group) for Christmas. It was their favorite gift of the day. Fun for all.

So fun seeing how minds work
This is a word game for those who shy away from word games, as well as word nerds. So fun seeing how minds work.

Little known but fun word game
I bought Wordsters at a store that sells out-of-print board games. My Wednesday night game group likes it a lot. It's similar to "Pass The Bomb" only there's no bomb involved. This is from Milton Bradley who tried to cash in on the success on Scattergories with this game, similar format including the pads. This game never caught on, but it's still a lot of fun if you like word games.A set of three letters are given like GER, STA or NUR. You most come with words of four letters or more that contain these letters in the order given. They can even be separated from each other. Adding a suffix or prefix to the word makes it a different word according to the rules. No proper nouns are allowed and have the Scrabble dictionary handy in case there's a question about spelling. You have two minutes to come up with 10 words, there's four rounds. The egg timer in this game is not as noisy as the one in Scattergories. The original rules say you call out a word and if nobody else wrote it you score. With five or six people this became quite difficult, so I revised the rules. Players in turn call out a word on their list. If no one else wrote it, they score one point. If at least one other person wrote it, the first person who raises their hand gets credit for it, everyone else crosses it off their list. In this scenario, the person who announced the word score two points and the first person to raise their hand scores one point. In the fourth round, the points are raised, three and two points, respectively. The player with the most points after the fourth round is the winner.Overall a good game that should've caught on, but didn't. If you like Scattergories or word games, you'll like Wordsters. It's out of print, but amazon.com and other websites have it if you want it.
