GOOD BOOK BUT...
Fonts are too small for easy and comfortable read. My eyes got tired easily reading same.

Compulsory reading
GREAT FOR BAR SCHOOL AND SHOULD BE COMPULSORY READING FOR ALL COURT ADVOCATESAn appreciation by Phillip Taylor MBE and Elizabeth Taylor of Richmond Green ChambersWell, he’s done it again with this superb third expanded version and, at double the length (but not cost) the book reminds us all how brilliant Sweet & Maxwell are at spotting and producing these special legal friends for the jobbing advocate. And how advocacy has changed! It is 10 years since the birth of Iain’s work which took many of us by storm for its originality. At the time I wrote that it showed one how to be seriously good in Court taking the author’s original subtitle. And it remains the book of my dreams and a Titanic of the advocacy world (and you can see what film I was watching at the time) because the advice given avoids all the ice bergs and glacial stares from the Bench! The little book is bigger now at over 400 pages but still modestly sized and very easy to read and digest with plenty of space for you to add your own personal tips about advocacy style.Iain’s writing style, enthusiasm and approach continues to bridge the gap between reading about the art of advocacy and actually how you do it in a court room. I have revised my view about the warm welcome I gave the original edition just to say on reflection that it should be in every wig box and not just that of the white wig!Thank you Iain and keep up the good work.

Very practical, useful and readable. Recommended
This is an easy book to underestimate and undervalue. But it is packed with practical, valuable advice from a QC who clearly knows his stuff. I picked up some invaluable tips and lessons and will be implementing what I've learned in my solicitor's practice in representing my clients. Some of the tips are game changers and it is eminently readable.Recommendation from me 👍

Fantastic little book for the junior bar
This book has accompanied me through the BPTC and pupillage. I still regularly return to it when I need to step back and think about my craft. It won’t tell you everything you need to know - and it doesn’t aspire to - but it’s a great place to start. My only real criticism is that the book itself isn’t robust enough. The binding isn’t great and my copy is beginning to fall apart. Absent the binding issues, this book gets 5*.

Top tips for aspiring advocates
If you have any interest in advocacy, whether from a lay perspective or to advance your existing understanding of the key skills of an advocate, I would highly recommend this book. What makes it most readable is that it is very concise, to the point and helpful in an extremely insightful way.The format of the book is perhaps its most appealing feature: small enough to take with you but most of the pages are acutely short, which corresponds to the author’s sharp writing style. Oddly, it makes it feel immensely readable as you go through it.The depth of the author’s experience is considerable and impressive which adds to the sense of obtaining quality insight from someone that knows what they are talking about.
