With macular degeneration the binocular lens allows you to see in the distance.

Overpriced
My mother, who has macular degeneration, received a pair of these glasses for free through the NC DHHS Services for the Blind. They are very helpful, but these are very overpriced. They are plastic. I have repaired them twice with superglue. Look for another buying option. This pair of glasses is ten times more expensive that another buying option I saw here. Bad seller! This is usery.

Didn't help my dad
I read a review stating they helped with a person having macular degeneration to watch TV. It did not help my dad at all. I'm not sure what stage of progression that person's relative was at, but probably less than my dad's.

Really helps
Would be great if there was more ability to focus for each eye desperately.

Works great
My father in law uses these all the time and they allow him to enjoy TV once again. He has macular degeneration and was having a terrible time watching TV before he got these. Be sure to protect them though. He didn't realize he was laying them on their lenses and he scratched them up over time. He has a new pair now and he hangs them from a neck strap next to his chair now so nothing scratches them.

My mom depended on them to watch tv for a long time until her macular degeneration got worse. She was glad she had them.

Terrific for home theater
I have used the MaxTV glasses by Eschenbach for over four years. Theyare mainly marketed to the visually impaired. But they are absolutelyterrific for home theater. Of course, if there is more than one personwatching you need another pair of glasses. I call it personal home theater. When viewing letterboxed movies it definitely gives you the feelingof being in a major movie theater. Watch a Blu-ray letterboxed movie and youwill get a better viewing experience than the movie theater can offer. The MaxTVglasses are also great for live theater.Bill Bergfeldt, Los Angeles, CA [email protected]

Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware. There is a 15% restocking fee if the glasses don't work out. I ordered them for my mother. They were too heavy for her, and she had difficulty trying to adjust them. When I contacted customer service, they said "too bad" they are a universal fit, and you have to pay the 15% restocking fee anyhow. No where on this site or anywhere I can see is there notice about a 15% restocking fee or I would not have ordered them. Be very careful in dealing with this company!! They have an "F" rating through Better Business Bureau.
