Shades of Kawaii: Volume 2: A Cute Colouring Book Paperback – Coloring Book, November 17, 2015

I recently hopped aboard the adult coloring book craze, and since I am a huge fan of all things Kawaii, I decided to search for a Kawaii coloring book here on Amazon. Shades of Kawaii Volume 1 received positive reviews on Amazon and I liked the uploaded pictures by other users. Since Volume 2 had just come out, I figured I'd skip volume 1 and go straight for this one. I do like the drawings, they are kawaii in a unique way (do you see the cover drawings? Mostly every picture in this book looks like this, in this style with the long eyes). The pages are a good quality and good for using with colored pencils or thin markers. The book is small- it's a square shape, about 8x8, and paperback, with 22 images. Pages are one-sided. Miss Wah gives some suggestions in the beginning as well as some neat ways to share your pics by social media. My ONLY gripe about this book is that every design is pretty much the same. The drawings are all different, don't get me wrong, but each one is done in the exact same way, like a repeated pattern over and over again. I almost think this should have been called a Kawaii Pattern Coloring Book or something of the sort. The page I am looking at now consists of the same panda drawing over and over again in somewhat of a kaleidoscope pattern. The next page is like that,too, except now it's a cupcake repeated, and so on, and so on. Some people really enjoy coloring patterns and mandala-type pictures. I was just hoping more for a variety of different kawaii pictures to color (such as a single kawaii image, like a panda or an animal, then the next page a scene, then the next page patterns etc.). It's all about personal preference, though. I can say, however, that this would make a cute gift for a Kawaii lover. Add some coloring mediums and a little pencil case and you have an adorable gift set. Oh, and this book really is great for a variety of ages. Kids ages 8 and up would probably like it, as well as the adult Kawaii lovers out there, too. I added two photos to this review. One was done with fine-tipped markers (Crayola and Mr. Sketch, believe it or not), and the other was done with a variety of colored pencils. If you use markers, just be sure to put some paper underneath your page so it doesn't bleed through (Miss Wah recommends this, too). I also visited her website for coloring inspiration. I was happy, too, that the black ink on the pages doesn't rub off or smear (I've had this happen with other coloring books) and the pages were a decent thickness. The images are fun to color because it's almost like they come to life once you fill them in!

I love these illustrations as they are different and who wants to color just flowers most the time. My only complaint is the paper is thin and something about the result when I use color pencil or even just markers it shows up uneven but I found when I color in this book it is best to use pencils first then use the same color of marker over it the result is nicer than if you just used a marker or color pencil alone. Over all love the fun characters found in this coloring book makes it fun to color.

So adorable, adult coloring books are relaxing AF, and this was such a great book to use. The only thing is some of the pictures are super detailed and sometimes kind of abstract, so it's hard to perfect your coloring pattern, but whatevs, this is still a cute item.

OMG!! An actual Kawaii adult coloring book!!?? I was sold from the moment I read the title. The book has single sided images, so you don't have to potentially ruin another page with another design you like. The pages are made with decent quality paper, and I have used Stabilo, and Staedtler pens and no leakage. The designs are beyond cute, I absolutely love this book so much, I purchased the other Shades of Kawaii

First off, there was black ink ALL OVER 7 of the 8 books I had ordered. My order didn't even come with anything that had black ink. I had to wipe each book down, as they are needed for work the next day. No point in returning now. Secondly, I bought two of the same books. One of which was wrapped and protected from the ink, however, was falling apart! Brand new book falling apart... Thirdly, the box was way too big. Books slid around and got damaged. Again, these books are needed for work the next day so there is not much I can do about them now but wipe it down as much as possible.The book itself was cute but made of poor quality paper.

characters are repetitive through out the whole book but for simple coloring its very cute.

This book is very cute, what really I like about it the most though is.. the cover and the back.. have this strange.., texture feeling to it, it's very.. nice in a weird way.

Cute images like those shown on the cover. Single sided so it makes it easier to remove them and not worry about having to decide which image to sacrifice when using media that bleeds through.

The artwork in this book is adorable with thick, clear lines. The pictures have lots of character and detail. The reason I could only give it 4 stars though is because of the how thin the paper is and how thin the book is. I was expecting and hoping for a thicker book. Thicker paper would be awesome but it isn't the most important thing as they do say put thin card under the pa per.

Nice mixture of designs, nice to colour and would recommend.The pages are thin like others have said, but I didn’t have an issue with that.Would happily order again

My daughter loves everything Kawaii, so when I saw this I had to buy it for her. She says that the pictures are fantastic and different from any other colouring book she has seen. I would recommend this to any kawaii fan.

My obsession and collection of colouring books is getting larger and larger. I love kawaii as it's so cute so this was a perfect mix. Lots of different pictures and patterns.

Love this!!!! One of my favourites!!!! Paper is a bit thin for felt tips but for crayons is great. One of the better adult colouring books out there.
