Hello Girls

Brilliant dark friendship comedy
HELLO GIRLS is a razor-sharp union of sidesplitting dark comedy, fierce feminism, and poignant friendship, paced like an Alfa-Romeo at full throttle, and written in gleaming, perfect, gutpunch sentences. One of the sharpest, funniest, and most perfectly written books I’ve ever read. This story of two best friends on the lam will have you alternating between rolling with laughter and picking your jaw up off the floor in wonder.Brittany Cavallaro and Emily Henry have worked magic on the pages of HELLO GIRLS.

A fun story about Best Friends
It to ok me a few months to read this but ok because I was busy and couldn’t read it every day. I loved Winona and Lucile. I was rooting for them as they had their ups and downs of this story. I’m not one to read co authored books, but this one was so fun and so seem less. I don’t want to spoil the book, but I loved the ending chapters a lot.

Loved This!
I am a big fan of the Charlotte Holmes series, so I was excited when I heard this was coming out. I am only half way through but so far I really like the characters and plot. Also, does first edition mean first ever book printed or first version of the book? because mine says first edition, and I would just like to know what it means!!

A Fun Road-Trip Read
Really 3.5 StarsFirst Thought After Finishing: I would love a book with more of Winona and Lucille’s adventures! The synopsis of Hello Girls had definite Thelma and Louise vibes, and just like it promised, this book was a fun read. I kept turning page after page to see what shenanigans the girls would get themselves into next.Winona Olsen has the perfect life—or so it seems. Nobody would guess what her life is actually like in her house or what her father acts like off-camera. Lucille Pryce is the opposite—nobody would ever envy her. Except possibly Winona. A chance meeting one night forged a friendship that could endure the worst life had to throw at them. But when they realize that they can’t wait until graduation to be free of their small town, they hatch a plan to get away—a plan so crazy enough, it might just work. What are a few felonies compared to a lifetime of freedom?Hello Girls was a fast-paced whirlwind of adventure. Winona and Lucille were never without a plan for very long. Lucille is a quick-witted schemer who is completely devoted to her friendship with Winona. Despite everything, she was determined to make her life better, and I loved that about her. Winona was slower to open up, but her quiet strength eventually came through. The two friends were a great balance, and their friendship shone through in the story. However, there was a certain amount of suspension of disbelief required in this book. Despite the initial fun of this adventure, there were definitely darker moments and morally questionable acts from all characters involved. The adult side of me couldn’t believe the things the girls got away with (both legally and in terms of their consciences). Everything didn’t go perfectly according to plan, but I couldn’t help thinking that the girls were rather lucky. If you can get past the logistical problems, this book is a quick and entertaining read. If these authors have another collaboration, I’ll definitely check it out! Most Memorable Aspect: The unwavering friendship between Winona and Lucille.

dark and funny
First off, you need to know that I would die for Winona and Lucille. These two are the absolute best characters in the world and I would do anything for their happiness.Hello Girls is easily one of my top three books of 2019 so far. I haven’t read any of Brittany Cavallaro or Emily Henry’s solo novels, but I’m definitely dying to now. There are co-authored books I’ve read where it’s obvious which author wrote which parts, but Hello Girls was completely seamless.Something that caught me off guard was how much incredible humor there was. None of it was overtly obvious slap-you-in-the-face, but it was there and I found myself laughing so many times. I loved the subtlety of it all and often found myself wondering if what I read was supposed to be a joke because it was pretty dark but realized it didn’t matter because it was funny. The adventures these two friends went on were absolutely wild and crazy. I was expecting a few off the wall antics on their way to Vegas, but I got way more than I ever thought was possible. The situations Winona and Lucille found themselves in never would have happened in real life and I loved every second. I desperately need Netflix to adapt this into a movie or series. This story was fast-paced the two main characters had such an incredible amount of depth to them. I never once had an idea of where things would end up, and though sometimes that bothers me, it was a really great adventure and fit what was going on perfectly. Hello Girls kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it and this is one I wish I could experience again for the very first time.A digital ARC was provided through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Fun
Hello Girls is about these two teenage girls (seniors in high school) wanting to leave their life in their town. Lucille has to deal with her drug dealing brother and the fact that she and her mother do everything while he sits on his ass. Winona wants to leave her abusive father. The girls meet outside a police station and become the best of friends.I enjoyed this book a lot. Winona and Lucille are both fun girls and are very different from each other. But get along perfectly. Sure they had a tiff or two, but they always worked it out!Surprisingly I didn’t get annoyed with the girls as much as I normally would. They both came off as very mature for their age. I loved that!I really only have one problem with the book. Well, two. It went by so fast. I really couldn’t put it down. Also, I wish it was longer! At 322 pages, I was left wanting more of the girls and their friendship. Hopefully these lovely authors will write a novella of what happened after the end.I highly recommend this book.

Interessante
