Get it now if you want your bike safe
I ride a 09 CBR600rr and installed this thing on my own which I thought was going to be hard, BUT. It was totally easy. From the time I took out the first screw to the time I put last one back in and started the bike it took me about an hour. Hardest part I found was trying to find a location for the perimeter sensor. I did however mess up on choosing my constant power sourse. But once I called tech support it was easly fixed.I live in an apartment complex with a reputation that is not the best. I can hear my alarm very well when someone walks by too close or bumps it other riders have had their bike taken but mine still remains thanks to this great functioning alarm.

Unit failed after 3 months.
I installed this unit along with the additional perimeter sensor. The main unit module appeared to be of high quality. Packaging is fantastic. When you open the box it just screams high quality. However, appearances can be deceiving. The perimeter sensor is by far anything like the main module. Its appearance actually reflects its performance. It quit working after only a couple days. I should have returned it immediately upon opening the package. It just didn't look like it was worth the additional fifty bucks. No weather sealing at all. No silicone wire connectors. Cheap chalky plastic housing with heavy burring on the edges. Scorpio really went cheap on this add on.Getting back to the main unit.As I said earlier, "Appearances can be deceiving."I believed this unit was built to withstand a nuclear war. Very sturdy hard impact resistant plastic, completely sealed electronics with absolutely no way for moisture to find its way in. Wire connectors are of top notch quality with silicone ribbed seals. Fantastic build. I must say, Scorpio got this totally correct. I give credit where it is deserved. However, after only a few months the alarm started to randomly arm and disarm. The RFID remote also failed. Eventually, the system would sound the alarm each time I turned the ignition key on.I was threatened with a citation last night while trying to get the alarm to shut off. It activated while I was driving. I pulled over to try to cycle the ignition, press the remote, and wave the RFID dongle within inches of the unit. No luck, it just kept on wailing. It would stop for a few seconds and start right back up. This went on for over 15 minutes.A police officer pulled up... I assume he thought I was stealing the bike. Ran my license, and checked the plates and vin off the bike. After everything came back clear, I was told to get the thing to stop, or the officer would write me a citation for the noise. I actually had to use a pair of pliers to rip the wires from the unit and it still kept making noise for another five minutes. I had the unit in my hand totally detached from the bike and it still was screaming. The officer and myself burst into laughter.I'll do my homework on the next system I have installed. I'm sure there is a manufacturer that makes a system designed to last years, not months.

Satisfied
Works well, has a tilt sensor and chirps as a reminder when you start it to let you know it's still armed. Does not activate when you are near it with the key.Only works with the Built in tilt sensor. Had to purchase proximity sensor for added security.

OK But Could Be Better
I've heard horror stories about the Harley alarms and leaving people stranded and having to have their bikes towed to a dealer so I wanted an alternative. I tried one of the cheap alarms but ended up throwing it in the trash. I did some extensive research and looked at two alternatives, the Gorilla alarm and the Scorpio SR-i800. The reviews weren't that good for the Gorilla alarm so I opted for the Scorpio alarm. I didn't feel I needed the extra features or expense of the SR-i900 and this seemed to be what I was looking for. After receiving the Scorpio SR-i800 alarm system with the factory connector kit for my 2005 Harley Ultra Classic, the installation couldn't be easier and the alarm certainly seemed like a high quality unit. I didn't bother with the proximity sensor as I'd read mixed reviews and thought the shock and tilt sensor would be adequate for my needs. After the alarm was installed, I wanted to test the sensor. The tilt sensor worked great and as soon as I brought the bike up off the kick stand, the alarm went off. However, the shock sensor was a different story. I tried everything I could to make the shock sensor go off from hitting the seat to smacking the frame to shaking the bike as hard as I could but nothing would set off the alarm. I ended up RMAing the alarm to the manufacturer, Aritronix, for testing and possible replacement. The folks I spoke with at Aritronix in Scottsdale, AZ, couldn't be any nicer but they said the alarm tested fine! I tried to explain all the things I had done to set it off without success but they assured me it was working fine so they shipped it back to me. I installed the unit again and again, the shock sensor wouldn't go off. I turned the sensitivity all the way up to 5 and only then could I occasionally set it off. I would think with 5 settings that if it were turned up to 5 a cat would set it off but that just wasn't the case. In the end, I'm going to live with it. I store my bike in the garage and really wanted some extra protection if I went on an overnight trip so as long as it goes off if somebody is really messing with it that's better than nothing. I've also done as the experts have suggested and use a high quality chain and lock plus a cover to keep it out of sight. That's the best I can do besides increasing my insurance coverage. I wished the shock sensor was better but that's really my only complaint at this point. Time will tell if it actually lasts.

Too Sensitive
This alarm did not work well for me. It was too sensitive and suffers from lots of false alarms. Now I have to ship it back to the manufacturer and see if they can fix it. Also the remote came with a dead battery. I opened the remote and went to close it back and the cheap plastic broke around the edges. I am not happy. Don't buy it.
