Our First Paint Sprayer
My wife and I decided to paint our bathroom cabinets after having some new tile installed. We have never done a project like this before and were not really sure the best way to go about it. We new that a paint sprayer was supposed to be the best thing to use to get a smooth finish, as opposed to using a brush or roller. So instead of hiring someone to do it and spend a ton of money, we decided to give it a shot. We first thought of renting one, but eventually decided to buy a small unit like this Wagner for much less money, and we would still have it for other projects. We were not brave enough to spray it inside the house, so we rolled the actual cabinets and took off the doors and other removable pieces to spray. The paint sprayer was easy to set up. We thinned out the paint as directed and gave it a shot. The sprayer was very easy to use and the paint went on easily. It looked a little rough at first, but dried smoothly. Cleanup was also quick and easy. As far as the actual unit goes, it is a nice, self-contained unit that simply plugs into the wall. No giant compressor or anything like that. Very easy for a homeowner that doesn't want to deal with a giant professional unit. The small size also makes it easy to store. Overall, using this paint sprayer was a great experience for a couple of amateurs like ourselves. For the low price of this paint sprayer, we weren't expecting the best quality, but we were very pleased with the results. Now my wife is looking around the house for other things to paint. I'm sure it will be getting more use soon enough. Highly Recommended!

Worked very well using Wolman waterproofing sealer with cedar tint
Worked very well so far, here's the whole story of doing the "black"cedar siding. Bottom line-the spray gun worked a treat with the Wolman raincoat sealer which is a very thin liquid just like water.: 1.The Wood Cleaner-Sodium Percarbonate Uncoated/ Kosher 25 Lb. pack from Pro Supply Outlet (@Amazon) ================================================================================ This comes in 5 lb bags which makes pouring convenient. 1 pound is about the amount in a full cottage cheese container-check with a kitchen scale. Use caution when handling the powder, and wear glasses/goggles and a hat, long sleeves etc. also don't mix more than will fit in your pump sprayer. In general I wanted to follow the recommendations -Don't use chlorine based bleach because it damages the wood.. -Don't use a power washer because it damages the wood. -Don't use an oil based stain because mold spores feed on oil. The siding on the North side of the house was quite black after 15yrs of NW weather, it came back to new looking using the following cleaning method: -Add 1lb of SPUK per gallon water thoroughly mixed. (8oz SPUK per gallon did not work as well). -Spray on the wood until saturated and milky looking, then wait 20mins, but don't let it dry. -Clean off with water using a high pressure hose spray attachment or a low pressure electric washer (what I used). No brushing needed. The hose spray wasn't quite enough due to the very long hose length and pressure drop but the black stuff fell off in sheets when my old Sears electric pressure washer was used. Update#1 It also worked a treat on the two cedar garage doors. Wow -they look new and are actually 15years old. Update#2 It was necessary to go over extreme weathered areas rwice to get the new look. 2. Stain/sealer section and using the Wagner 0518050 ======================================== I used 5-gal Wolman Raincoat tinted natural cedar water repellant sealer (HD) for the house cedar siding and cedar garage doors. Sprayed on with a Wagner 0518050 Control Spray Double Duty Paint Sprayer. So far have sprayed on about 10 gallons over a period of 3 days, some areas had to be done with a brush because the over spray would have wasted too much sealer. It is very thin, just like water, and if anything a finer minimum setting on the spray gun would have been useful. Used one coat. Initially I did not like the color but after drying it looks great. After each day of use cleaned the spray gun by spraying some water and bit of dish soap through the nozzle. It is hard to clean off of surfaces if let to dry-used mineral spirits.

Great electric paint gun.
I painted the back of my chevy van door plus the top, make sure you pre the area well, use high build primer, layering is important, I use three light coats, in between, coats I use tack cloth, waited 45 minutes, then two passes of clear coat. After two weeks, I buffed it out, two coats of white lighting polish, it looks really good. It can be done, not the factory look but close enough, the gun does what it is intended for, the fine finish. I did stained my fence and it came out nice. My neighbor used it for his dining chairs and he was amazed that an electric paint gun can do this. Now they have the more improved models so I would go with those. I had this gun over 5 years, still works great on touch up.

omg i hate this thing. lolz jp
i'm not a pro painter, and i dont have a pinterest famous blog in dyi'ing or anything like that. im just a regular guy who paints a room every now and then. I unfortunately had to move 3 times in the last 3 years, and i like color on my walls. 2 paint jobs ago i told myself, there's gotta be a better way. I suck at painting via traditional roller method. yes, there are right ways to do it, no, i dont know them or care much to try and figure it out. hence this thing. "omgosh i hate this thing why isn't perfect". i dont know, nor do i care, i just know i painted a 12 by 12 room a light green color with it, and i'm very happy with the results. solid color on the walls, much faster, much less manual labor that i really freaking hate. did i mention its not perfect? here's a heads up on what i experienced out of the box / some advice - thin your paint, figure it out. or not, maybe that'll work for you. i was happy with 30-40 seconds clearance in the drippy thing. - really thin paint will drip out the top of the paint container while painting, even with it secured/screwed in tight. it'll also drip down the walls, and that's sucksville x infinity - work on your technique and figure out spray patterns. not every spot in a room will fare well with the same pattern or motion. - passing over again before drying worked for me. like, horizontal spray an area and doing quick passes over it again before moving on worked. i only even started doing that because i noticed when one wall dried, i had light spots that needed coverage. doing this pass over before drying didn't require i give a second coat later. i painted a white wall with good paint though. - that's right, i didn't give it a second coat and it looks solid. (DIY blogger demi god's) "be still our blogging hearts! no second coat!" - it gets heavy, use both hands if needed. about cleaning - yes, its paint gun, that means you need to clean it. "omg but why it should clean itself because ...". nope, just hit the kitchen sink, tub, wherever. there's just a couple parts to clean, small ones, but not small where it'll like fall down the drain or something and ruin your day, i think its like 3 or 4 parts. took me like 5-10 minutes. - one down fall, i needed to clean often. first round of spraying lasted 10 minutes before needing to clean, another round i was able to finish 2 whole walls. it varies, but you'll figure it out, cuz you're so smart ;) - put tarp, canvas, what ever drop cloth you use down, this thing doesn't mess your floors up, but it does generate a fine mist that i felt land on my floors. a simple mopping later with hot water and cleaner worked fine, i mean i would've done that anyway. why 5 stars? because i really hate painting via roller, and i finished an entire room is much less time, and well, that ish be awesome. yes, i had to clean it often, but seriously, i mean for real, its paint, you're cleaning up regardless. also, cleaning the gun is easier labor than rolling in my opinion. plus im broke and this thing was cheap. do it up.

Small jobs, not medium or large
When it comes to painting, Iโve done my fair share of painting interior walls for bedrooms, etc. Iโve always used a roller and paint brushes. I want to provide this context, as it probably played a factor into this. I purchased this sprayer after seeing a DIY show on TV, to paint my 8x15 office, 8x10 storage shed, and stain my enclosed fence. Unfortunately, after spray painting the exterior of my 8x15 office yesterday with latex paint (1gallon to 1/2 sup water dilution), I found the sprayer was not what I was expecting. It took me SIX HOURS to finish spray painting. The spray on this is too precise and narrow for a medium job like that. Also, thereโs no mechanism to hold the spray trigger in place (probably for good reason), but after holding a trigger down for six hours, my hands are horribly cramped (not to mention my arms hurt to the point I can barely lift them). I did get the job done and the exterior of my office looks amazing and very professional. It just took far longer than I was expecting, as the sprayer does not have a wide enough spray. Yes, I read the directions multiple times, and made several adjustments to the sprayer, but it didnโt help. I think this particular model of sprayer is designed for much smaller jobs, such as staining a few cabinets, or maybe refinishing a dinning room table set. I wish I could return this, but itโs unlikely Iโll be able to after use. No matter what adjustments I made, the sprayer just wouldnโt spray wide enough. It would take me 5-6 passes just to cover a 12โ section of the hardy plank siding. After some additional research, what I really needed (still need) is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IA8EVIQ?pf_rd_p=731c2082-c3b6-4ec5-ba3b-337a0516607d&aaxitk=FUNjgy9wZuNsYAtQHTGZCA&hsa_cr_id=9799076570501

Fast, Even Coverage โ Wagner Spraytech Makes Staining a Breeze!
The Wagner Spraytech Control Spray Double Duty has been a fantastic addition to my DIY tool collection. Itโs perfect for tackling both indoor and outdoor projects with ease. I used it for staining my deck and sealing some wood furniture, and the results were impressiveโsmooth, even coats without brush marks, and it saved me tons of time compared to manual application. The HVLP sprayer is easy to set up and adjust, so getting the right flow and coverage is straightforward. It handles both thin stains and thicker sealers well, providing a consistent spray thatโs easy to control. Cleanup was surprisingly simple, too; just a quick rinse, and it was good as new. If youโre looking to make staining and sealing projects faster and easier with professional results, this Wagner sprayer is a fantastic investment. Highly recommend for DIYers and home improvement enthusiasts!

Burned Out Motor
The motor died after using 4 times since I received the sprayer on 4/4/15. I loved the sprayer for ease of assembly and use. Yesterday, spray gun smelled like electrical burning and motor would work no more. I called Wagner technical at which time the person told me this sprayer was not for use with water based paint. I read to her from the book enclosed with sprayer that it can be used with water based paint. I was using Minwax polyacrylic water based sealer to seal knotty pine wood. Please note it was performing beautifully until it "died". She said the sprayer was intended only for small, fine jobs. No where do I read this sprayer should be used for small jobs ONLY. All the reviews I read before purchasing this sprayer indicated otherwise, e.g., used for painting home fences, decks, furniture, etc. There were many happy customer reviews which is why I purchased this product. I was told to send sprayer to Wagner at my cost and they would look at it. If it is manufacturer defect, they will pay for shipping sprayer back to me. I'm very unhappy since I was in the middle of a fine finish project and even more unhappy due to what appears to be poor tech support from Wagner. Note, technician appeared to not believe I was referring to a Control Spray Double Duty paint sprayer even though I was reading directly from the box.

Great starter HVLP
Bought this to speed up remodelling a rental and it was much faster and neater than brushing and much cheaper than cans of spray paint (and much more versatile for color selection than cans). I painted walls, desk, table, chairs, hardware, and other items. I have gone through about three gallons of various paints and polyurethane (water based) with no problems. The spray patterns are adequate for most applications (obviously not as tight as the more expensive HVLP guns but good for the average homeowner/hobbyist paint job). One key to remember is that if you paint something and you aren't going to be spraying for half an hour or so you will probably need to clean the spray tip insert as the paint/polyurethane will dry. It's a scientific fact you can't ignore - paint dries and hardens over a relatively short period of time. I prepped a lot of items, lined them up and sprayed almost constantly for over two hours with no failures or clogs. When I went to lunch for 45 minutes I had to clean the tip before it would spray - no big deal. The paint thinning process takes a little while, so I will genarally thin enough medium for the whole day's painting before I start then fill one of the two tanks as needed. If I had left over pain in the tank at the end of a day I stretched a nitrile glove over the top of the removed tank and the paint was still fine the next day. If you are using water based polyurethane mine required no thinning, but I had to adjust the spray down so it wouldn't run. The cord is long enough for spraying in a small area but if you will be spraying in a larger area you will need an extension cord. If you are a professional painter you probably won't be satisfied with this, but for the average homeowner, hobbyist or landlord with only a unit or two, this will speed up your painting and give a nicer finish than brushing or rolling. It is an excellent beginning sprayer. Take care of it and it will serve you well.

Affordable, versatile and great quality
I've been using this "exterior" model inside and so far so good. There's a lot of over spray, now I've never worked with a paint sprayer before so I don't know it this is normal or not, but do prep your area and cover everything. I thin regular paint to proper consistancy using the viscosity funnel. I do suggest weighing out or measuring your materials, cause it takes a lot to be that sweet spot. so far I've used it with Valspar dry wall primer, SW and Behr 2in1. There's a lot of prep, taping and covering everything, but I can paint a room in 20 minutes or less. I've gotten runs a few times but that was my fault, easy enough to correct with a brush or roller Clean up is easy. But I have not used any paint requiring mineral spirits to clean yet, which I'm sure will be a little more difficult.

Huge time saver
This thing actually got me off of my butt and had my deck stained with minimal effort and great results. Quick setup and easy cleaning made it fine to just grab it on a whim, spray about 1 liter on a section and then clean up and move on with my day. Doing small sections when I could find the time meant that I actually got it done and didn't put it off forever, waiting for a time when I could get it all done at once. I was spraying a solid color, water based stain that the manufacturer said should not be thinned. I thinned it anyway (not sure if the sprayer could have handled it without thinning, but this stuff was thick). It was not rocket science. I ran it through the viscosity cup at anywhere from 50 to 80 seconds and had perfect results every time. Even if I never use this again, it was still with it. Couldn't be happier.
