Not As Good As The First Two
This is the 3rd book I've read by this author. They're a series and I do like them but probably this one least of all. There was a repeated error of ofthing printed just like that which got on my nerves. It follows a couple where the guy is a journalist and his partner a police detective. They're set over here in a little town up north. In this one they didn't seem so happy as a couple which was a shame. In this book there's a lot to do with witchcraft which I'm not interested in in the least and so I probably drifted off a bit there.Do read the first 2 before this one, though, as you'll get to follow the relationship between Jack and Laura. I will be sticking with the series-there are 2 more to read right now which I'll be getting.

Gripping Story
Neil White has written some really good crime stories so I keep tracking his new books. I always enjoy them. I worked for seven years where this is based and so I identify with it as well.

Brutal, but a compelling story
The development of the characters is a little slower than I would prefer, but the storylines are well bought out, and have an interesting sense of place. The author draws on local points of interest and historical relevance to give a well-developed sense of place, which is something I always prefer. Looking forward to the next one!

Hard to put down...
For me this was a brilliant read that I simply could not put down. I would highly recommend reading Fallen Idols and Lost Souls before reading this if you want to get the full effect of the story and a proper feeling for the main characters. The story moved along well. Some of the descriptions may not be for the faint hearted, but for me that added to the fear you felt for Sarah and the urgency to turn the next page and discover her fate. As with all of Mr White's novels, it left me wanting more, and I am looking forward to the next in the series out soon.

Neil White books
Last Rites is the 5th book that I have read in a row as they are brilliant reads. They build up to great stories with characters that are normal and believable. However each plot takes you on a journey with brilliant characterisation and can be scary but very detailed. Neil White is a master storyteller and I have become hooked. I'm going to read them all.

Brilliant read
I have enjoyed all of Neil Whites books, and this was no exception. The plot involves witchcraft and kept me thoroughly absorbed. It was a bit graphic at times, not for the squeamish. I especially enjoy the relationships between the characters. The action was fast paced and exciting.
