Good field peas
These have been a favorite of mine since childhood. I remember my mom fixing these for our supper many times. They are pricey here, but hard to find in the stores. These field peas are really good, I still enjoy them.

Dented cans
The flavor is great with this product. But the 2 of the 6 cans were extremely dented. The shipping box was not torn so am left to wonder how these got so dented

Delicious
I cannot find these beans in the store anymore, and I like them very much so I was very glad to find them on Amazon. Thank you for having them.

Delicious
We order from Amazon because they are always out of stock at our local grocery store. I like to keep them in the cabinet. A fan favorite.

Great for a Southerner far from home!
I grew up in SC and now I live far from home. Field peas are a favorite of mine but you can’t find them where I live now. I grew up eating Hoppin’ John made with dried field peas every New Year. With these seasoned field peas, you just mix a little cooked rice in them and you have Hoppin’ John in minutes any time of year!

Delicious But Dangerous -- Especially for the Arthritic!
All my life I have loved black-eyed [field] peas.Mom & Grandma would cook em up from scratch. After I left home, I shopped & tried several brands of black-eyed peas. But all of them are, apparently -- insipid: overcooked, mushy, lacking in flavor & texture. Then, in recent decades, I discovered these "Margaret Holmes SEASONED Field Peas & Snaps".And they are addictive -- I got hooked years ago!Sometimes I would make a meal of just a can of these babies!Drain em, heat em up -- & enjoy! And I would add them to all kinds of dishes.Over the last few decades, I have ingested some probably most days of the weekAnd I never wondered until lately how that flavor was achieved! You see, MSG is a dynamite flavor enhancer -- you could look it up!These are the major ingredients as listed in really tiny print on the label, in order of volume of occurrence -- Prepared Field peas Water Snaps [green beans] Monosodium Glutamate [= the notorious MSG]Then there are 10 more ingredients, in diminishing quantities. For many years I have had a lot of arthritic issues, including a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis.Recently, I seem to have over-dosed on the MSG, by saving the delicious drained liquid from each can.And I would add that to other dishes -- soups & the like, whatever; I was kind of double-dosing.And most recently, I have several arthritic & gout-like attacks, such that I could not even sleep. The pain in my hands & wrists & thumbs, & even a fore-arm & a shoulder, was intolerableI could not use my hands or arms to drive -- & I needed ... help ... in the bathroom. So I had to ask somebody to drive me down to the local Quick Care for emergency relief. That occurred 3 times -- & I got relief with a cortisone shot & 2 dosages of Prednisone. The kind folks down yonder also helped me with a sling & a forearm/hand brace. That was when I started to research my diet, & I changed some items. The effective change seems to have been quitting the cans of delicious field peas: cold turkey. And now I have been symptom-free for over a week.Do you think the folks down at the Margaret Holmes outfit have maybe hinted a bit about this product? Please note the emphasis in the title/name on the can: the word "SEASONED" appears in all caps.Is that a subtle warning? Also in the label listing -- What does "Prepared" mean in "Prepared Field Peas"?Do they soak the dry beans in a saturated solution of MSG?Now, I have a confession to make -- I bought these in the various stores, & not from Amazon.

Open your mind
Had never eaten these before this year and just love them. I've went as far as to drop some meat in it and call it a simple mans chili.
