Excellent detail photos of the entire airframe
Very detailed history. Lists all users and the fates of aircraft as well. Excellent detail photos of the entire airframe. Very useful for modelers building any of the new kits currently on the market. Highly recommended.

Excellent for a first book on this aircraft
MMP's White Series is an eclectic collection of titles that don't fit in any of MMP's other series - at least that's the way it's supposed to work. As it is the 27th book in the White Series (no 9127) would have fit nicely in the Yellow Series. But be that as it may, this 8-1/4" x 11-3/4", 132 page, square bound card cover fills a gap in my aviation library. Books covering French aircraft are rather sparse in the English language; most of the ones I do have cover First World War designs. Although the Fouga Magister was built in substantial numbers and served with many services I knew next to nothing about this aircraft. The first 18 pages provide a brief development history and technical description of the aircraft from its glider forebears. Of special interest here was the effort made to see if ejection seats were practical for this small aircraft. Ejection seats were never fitted to any production version. It would have been interesting to have some stats on how well bailing out worked over the years but this context is not provided. There follows 8 pages of commissioned line drawings in both 1/72nd and 1/48th scales. These are well done and very detailed. These are followed by 7 pages describing the variants and production of the aircraft.Next, we come to the final 2 section which form the meat of the book. There are 29 pages describing the service of the aircraft with air arms around the world. Within these 29 pages are 17 pages of color profiles (2 per page) showing the aircraft in a wide variety of schemes. The last section, In Detail, is 70 pages of close up photos of a preserved example. Wonderful stuff.Throughout the book, the text is well supported by photos (most in color), drawings, and tables. The only complaint I had was the use of unfamiliar abbreviations which before the internet would have been difficult to decipher like the French rank Cne (capitaine) and the pressure unit HPZ (hectopieze).Highly recommended. I'm always enthusiastic about monographs about aircraft I know little or nothing about.

Extremely detailed photographs
The CM 170 Magister [Yes, the book title says it is the Fouga Magister, but the Fouga company got bought, the resulting company got bought, and the company resulting from that and so on -- with each purchase the name of the manufacturer changed. So yes, it was a Fouga Magister, but it was also a Potez Magister, a Sud Aviation, an Aerospatiale Maister, and also Heinkel-Messerschmitt (Germany), Valmet (Finland), IAI (Israel).] was a two seat jet trainer designed and mostly built in France, but used in about twenty countries. A number of Magisters were imported into the United States when various countries upgraded their planes to something else. In fact you can usually find a half dozen or so Magisters for sale in the US. At a starting price of around $85,000 this is just about the cheapest warbird you can get, especially for one with jet engines. The book is a pretty detailed description of the plane with numerous detailed photographs showing almost all components of the plane. If you are thinking of buying one of these, this book is a good place to start.

Superb book with incredible attention to detail. I bought it for an old friend who taught fledgling pilots of the 'New Luftwaffe' jet flight in the Magister for five years. He was delighted with the gift and he too gave it a fabulous review.

Viele Fotos, begrenzte Informationen
Beim Textinhalt muss man allerdings deutliche Abstriche machen.
