Good quality and value
So far this jacket has held up well. It seems to be good quality, especially for the price. It held up well to washing. It is definitely waterproof, which means it can get a bit hot. Good can be rolled up into the collar. Has a draw cord for the hood and around the bottom of the jacket. The hood has a soft bill (same weight as jacket) which helps a bit to keep rain out of the face. Pockets zip, which I love, and there’s an inner pocket at the chest area. Very pleased so far.

Order a size up and get a great jacket!
First off, order a size up from what you think you should. I'm kind of between XL and 2XL normally, so I went for the 2XL and found the jacket a little snug. That's all right in my case as I'm getting closer to XL every day, but if there was any doubt I'd have wanted bigger. That said, the jacket is overall excellent. Holes allow some breathability, but still keep you dry in the Pacific Northwest's trademark rain. Stitching is excellent, packability is excellent if requiring just a little effort to get the thing stuffed into its own pocket. The white stripe which looks more gray in person is very retroreflective without making you feel like you're wearing a safety vest. The red is a little brighter than it looks in the product photo, but the hue is true to what you see.The cuffs are half elastic and half velcro, and the velcro seems like it's holding up pretty well after many months of wear. The collar does not detach via zipper, but can be rolled up under the collar and velcroed in place, which is how I usually wear the thing because I wear a big-brimmed hat pretty much year round, material chosen for the season…The one thing I wish the jacket had was an open-top document pocket inside the thing. It doesn't really because the one interior pocket is both very small and opens to the side. You can kind of make it work by opening the embroidery access zipper and dropping the paper you want to keep dry into it, but it's not really made for that and I wouldn't make a habit of using it that way even if I've found it a useful field expedient solution to carrying a letter-sized envelope through our famous liquid sunshine and having it be dry at the other end of the trip. The jacket is not very warm when it's cold out, but I intentionally wanted JUST a water/wind barrier when I bought the thing, and that's what I got. It served me through spring and fall, but now that winter is upon me I'm going to have to start wearing something with more insulating properties. Sadly this 2XL shell just isn't 2Xy enough for me to wear a fleece vest under it, or I'd be happy with it for most of a mild winter. If the sizing were more realistic, this would be a 5 star jacket in its price range. Take it from a guy who also wears a $300 3-in-1 system: This thing is well-made for the money.

WATERPROOF great jacket
Bought an extra small (XS) for my trip to Costa Rica and I was greatly surprised at how well this jacket performed. I am 135 lbs 5'7" and it fit me very well. I would advise though if you plan to wear a backpack underneath your jacket you might want to size up maybe 1-2 sizes because I am relatively slim and with XS I could barely fit my Rouge camelbak underneath. I wore it through light to moderate rainfall for over 3-4 hours and it kept my body dry as a bone. After a few hours of being soaked in the rain, there was a bit of moisture/wetness seeping through my arms though. It wasn't exactly "packable" in that if folds into itself, but you can tightly roll it up as with any lined windbreaker type jacket. The hood is designed very well and has a nice front lip on it and does the whole thing folds into the collar. If you are in the market for a light weight rain jacket, you can't beat this Viking jacket which costs almost 3-4 times less than comparable jackets.

OK but not very good rain jacket
Good rain jacket for light rain. When I used it during a relatively short hike (6.5 miles) in heavier rain, I was completely soaked inside and out.

Great for Rainy Days but Not 100% Waterproof and Runs Small
This jacket is great for being in the rain at a ballgame or something. It looks good, it breathes and it is comfortable. It is light weight, and can fold into one of its pockets. Given that the product description says 100% waterproof, I tried it wading-fishing in it. I had a tight belt around my waste with my waders below. When a wave splashed on me some water would get in through the seams of the jacket. I knew it was too good to be true to have a truly sealed jacket at this price. Great for the rain though. Like the other review says, it runs small, so order a size bigger. I absolutely recommend it for a rain and wind breaker.

Runs Very Small Order a size up!
This jacket is great. It is very light weight, well made, plenty of pockets for storage, and super convenient to take on potential rain days. The only down side is it runs very small. I strongly suggest you order AT LEAST one size up from your normal size. I recommend this jacket for anyone who wants light weight rain protection on the go.

15 Years of Use - Only a Flood Cut Life Short
I have used the jacket as the primary spring and fall jacket for 15 plus years. It held up well. Only a flood resulting in mold stopped it. Lightweight, compact and rain resistant are its strength. The only con is that lighter colors are no longer available. The new jacket construction seems to be every bit as good as the one it replaced.
