Broke under pressure
I used to love this harness, I used these exclusively for both of my dogs. Tonight however, my little girl saw a bunny and lunged really hard, the harness snapped in two places and she ran off chasing the bunny into the woods. Luckily there were no cars and she went right into the woods after crossing the road. I ran like I was still in high school and after about 2 minutes I was able to chase her down. She is a 34 pound labradoodle and the harness should not have snapped.

Best average front-clip harness for most cases.
This is my favorite front-clip harness. It's the honda civic of harnesses--no frills, doesn't cost a fortune, works well, and lasts forever.I like that it has no martingale loops. It does not constrict with leash pressure.I like the low-profile, simple design. No unnecessary straps, no unnecessary bulk.I like that most dogs are comfortable in it with very little acclimation period.I like that the plastic buckle is set away from the side rings, so it's under the dog instead of behind the dog's elbow.I like that it uses metal adjustment hardware.Note that the harness's performance and safety depends on a proper fit. The fitting guides on softtouch's website are good--check those out. It also helps tremendously, especially in the beginning, to clip the leash to both the collar and the harness ring. That prevents the harness front from drooping down onto the dog's legs as you play around with the right fit.Note also that no harness, collar, halter, etc. is going to make a dog cheerfully walk at heel on a loose leash with his attention on you. Training will. The device is just a temporary crutch (a phenomenally useful crutch). This device will give you power steering as you work through your training plan, but it's not magic, nor is any device.

Just buy it
This is the 3rd harness I’ve bought from this brand. My GSD (and us) broke the clip on the last one after 3 years of us. By far best harness ever. My dogs used to pull SO bad with a collar and with these, they don’t try to pull or when they do, I have control and don’t have to worry about putting stress on their throats.I should also mention that I had a mini Schnauzer who refused to walk on a leash when he had a collar. No issues after switching to this. He was ready to go! (Clips are a little harder to use when the harness is smaller but we made it work and it was worth it.)

She's just so good at sticking close that we never got around to ...
My dog has always been an "off leash" *hangs head in shame* dog. She's just so good at sticking close that we never got around to leash training her. She is only 1.5 years old, so she is still full of curious puppy energy. She would pull so horribly that it was pretty intimidating to train her. Well we just had a baby and I really wanted to be able to jog with my stroller and my dog. I saw all the great reviews for this harness and they were justified after purchasing it. This thing works like magic. My dog is so much better on a leash while wearing this. I use a 4 foot leash non retractable and she still leaves a lot of slack somehow. Even when we run past other dogs, people, kids, squirrels, geese, she does not pull!! Best purchase I've ever made for my dog.

It's great as long as you accept you have to replace it every 8-12 months.
I really like the fit of this harness and the front hook. My Bearded Collie mix has a very small chest but big shoulders and this is the best fitting harness for her. I'm buying my third one right now. That's the only downside - the metal buckles (the metal loops on the chest part that you use to tighten the harness) snap in half if your dog pulls. See the pictures - one is how it should be, one is what it looks like when it snaps. It has happened exactly the same way on both harnesses I've had. She is still secure but I notice the front hanging down really low. When I look closely one side has loosened all the way because the metal snapped at its joint. I know they have a version with black pieces in place of these metal ones ... maybe they are better. Still a great harness at a great price if you accept the short shelf life (first one 11 months, second one 10 months.)
