I need to clean and refurbish my pool pump every 2 years. Even though we do everything we can to keep the strainer baskets empty and clean of debris we end up with sand and mesquite tree leaves entering the system and plugging impeller holes and building up around the shaft seal. I found out the hard way that some of the non-oem parts do not fit well.

My impeller, diffuser & seal plate were a little over 4 years old (4 years and 2 months). When I rebuilt my pump (replacing the variable speed motor with a 2-speed motor), i heard a sound coming from the pump. A way to describe the sound was similar to the kind you'd hear if a playing card was attached to the spokes of a bicycle wheel, with the pitch changing depending on how fast/slow you rode the bike. At first I opted to replace the impeller ring but the sound was still there, so now I knew I had to replace the impeller.I also took a closer look at both the old diffuser & the old seal plate and noticed cracks in the diffuser and in the seal plate, so I figured I might as well replace these two items.INSTALLATION:I opted to hold the motor at an angle in my left hand and installed the seal plate over the motor's flange and then switched to holding the motor in my right hand to manually thread each bolt into the seal plate. Doing it this way I was able to take pressure off of the seal plate and the bolts went in straight. I had my wife insert the bolt furthest away from me at the bottom and it too went in. I torqued the 4 bolts to the same spec used to torque the 6 bolts for the seal plate/housing which was 185 in-lbs.The new seal plate manufactured in Feb 2017 (even though it was purchased in Oct 2019) had 2 features my original seal plate manufactured in Feb 2013 did not have. A vane near the motor shaft on the impeller side and a cut-out on the opposite side where D.E. normally appears as the ceramic seal is failing.NOTE: The pump worked flawlessly with the original parts as far as running water through the filter, it's just that the noise that I heard was unnatural and i suspect putting wear grooves in the impeller even faster.

Perfect fit! Had been sent 2 different wrong ones from 2 different pool supply companies. Amazon had the right specs for right one the first time around. I will never go to a pool supply company or the manufacturer itself for replacement parts in the future. I wasted over 2 weeks of my time and money trying to get the correct pay. It took 2 days and less money to get the right part from Amazon.

So far it’s working beautifully. Good seal, no leaks.
