Perfect for 16' Jon & NC intracoastal's
This is the only type of anchor that REALLY works in sandy or muddy-ish bottoms in the Cape Fear area intracoastals. We tried others & it's so hit or miss on how they hold in the soft sandy bottoms. We anchor mostly near sand bars, so not sure about oyster bed areas. The size is perfect for our 1648 Jon Boat; we easily hold the Jonnin place with 2 (1-aft & 1-forward) even in choppy or wake-induced waves near shores. I can even pull the whole boat out from the front anchor as tides shift , so it sinks into the bottom great, it's also not so heavy so you can throw it easily. We just got a 17' Scout that this size will be great for as well. I think around 18' plus you'd want to go up in size/pounds/weight of the anchor.

Great anchor for the price
This is a really nice fluke anchor for the price. I have this on a 12' chain and 100' of rope for a 19' boat, for which it is technically oversized, but works great. I also have the one size down of the same model on 6' of chain with 60' of rope which also worked well, but I wanted a second anchor so I can tie off two if necessary. Since I already have the other one, I went one size bigger just for some added assurance in sandy bottoms. In most other cases I would have used a different type of anchor for secondary, but since I am almost always anchoring in sandy or silty bottoms, I went with this style. I like how easy to release it is if it gets dug right in. If you just run up on it, the ring slides to the head of the fluke and it pulls right out. Great anchor.

Ho-hum. Not really sure how this anchor will hold up.
This anchor is galvanized but is rather roughly coated and doesn't seem to be all that nicely made. But for the price, it does its job and keeps our boat stable in windy weather. Hoping that it will last longer than a few seasons. It is quite lightweight, though meant for boats 6 feet longer than our 18' speedboat.

Holds and digs just as good as the expensive anchors
Item arrived as described. Works as it should from my 17" boat. Works great fro the sandbar and the muddy bottoms of the river.

A perfect #2 anchor
My wife and I go to the lake every weekend. We use a 24 foot pontoon boat and anchor somewhere every day. I already had a good primary anchor which keeps the boat from moving down the channel. I needed a #2 anchor to keep the boat in a particular angle, based on view and sunlight. I throw the #2 anchor where I want the back of the boat to move and then pull until the right position is achieved. This anchor looks perfect for this purpose. It is light enough for me to throw but has the claws and weight necessary to hold in mud, sand or rock. Then when you are ready to leave. (pulling from straight above) it releases.

Lighter than expected
Lighter than expected will need some heavy chain. I have a 16ft Starcraft Fisherman boat. The anchor is rated for a 20 to 24ft boat. Going to put on my 14ft bluegill boat and use that one instead.

Holds a 23' Chaparral 220 SSi In wind
The stock width of this anchor fits the anchor well slots exactly for this boat, and that is one of the main reasons for the purchase. The shank length is perfect for the well depth. It is a few pounds lighter than the original anchor, but it works perfectly. It is important to put out plenty of anchor rope, and use a lead chain attached to the anchor to hold it on the bottom correctly. I use a 100' 1/2" braided rope w/thimble connected to a 4 foot stainless steel chain 1/4" links with 1/4" stainless steel shackles connected to both the thimble and the anchor. I always let out at least 95' to 98' of rope when I anchor, and the boat doesn't move, even in wind. I don't know what all the other guys are talking about when they claim it doesn't hold their boat, but I can assure you it always holds my boat. Don't expect it to work correctly if you don't USE IT correctly. This is a fantastic anchor for the money, so don't hesitate to purchase.

Works great for my heavy 17 foot boat.

tamaño bueno para una pequeña embarcación de 10 a 12 pies, no pesa mucho así que se puede manipular con facilidad, solo el acabado del galvanizado le falto mas detalle pero en cuestion de funcionamiento ni un problema. lo recomiendo.
