These cables eliminate a lot of hassle. If you're in a live band, this cable connects your instrument 1/4" output to a higher end mixer (stereo) xlr input...without the need for a direct box... or leaving a 1/4" cable halfway plugged into the mixer. I also realized I was lugging twice as many cords (both xlr-xlr & '14"-1/4") with a direct box for each signal path...which added to my overall equipment list. I don't notice any sound difference between direct boxes and using this cable as an adapter. I even use them to go from 1/4" mix output on cheaper mixers to go into a powered speaker with XLR inputs. 5 stars since it's more like a 25 foot adapter cable. If you play keyboards with quarter inch outputs... and want to go directly into the mixer XLR inputs... get a few of these. Nuff said!!!!!
