Good clean fun, fast read, good story - for avid and reluctant readers
I wrote this review for the first book in this series and it applies to this one equally as well:We have one avid reader and one budding reader who both really like this book and the whole series. They say it's really funny and is a good story. It was recommended to me based on it being a good, clean, fun read.Middle school is definitely a good age for this book, but that's just a general reference point.Much of what follows is aimed at those with struggling readers. If you want to help a reluctant reader, get him anything, at any age level of reading, that he will read. This book fit the bill. In my personal and professional opinion: absolutely hold out on smutty (pornographic) materials or stuff that might make him hate family, his life or make him feel isolated. You have only that to watch out for. Struggling readers don't need the burden, nor do they need neurological diminishing that is (scientifically proven) to happen with porn. That's how it works with videos, video-games, too. The last thing you want is to diminish his ability to focus for long periods of time or get so focused on immediate gratification that he won't bother with words! Otherwise, find something - anything - he will like! If it has funny parts, all the better. I think that is what happened with this book and eventually pulled ours in. Just keep giving him (or her, obviously) books about things he is already interested in, until you hit gold. Online groups are everywhere to help with recommendations.

Who is dong this nefarious activity?
A fun read, but I was put off by some of the stereotyping in the book. Ther premise is good and there is education, mystery, and good solving skills developed into the book. I just wish the stereotyping had been a little less obvious. There are great story problems in the back and it is still a good read for a young math geek who is having teen angst and needs to develop confidence in his/her abilities.

Suspenseful, humorous, educational
This series would be a great addition to a mathematics curriculum. It is funny, the characters are charming and the kids are empowered. This group of middle schoolers must navigate the halls filled with bullies and mean people. They are asked to solve another mystery for the local police, but it seems straightforward math is not going to solve this one. Will the gang be able to find who is behind the series of break-ins? Can English and science clubs be plotting against them? The series even ends with some math word problems to hone student's skills.

We all enjoyed it
I spend a few hours a week reading with my youngest grandkids, a first grader and a third grader. Having spent a career in software development, I believe there are 3 important elements to early education-reading, writing, and arithmetic(being able to count to ten without taking your mittens off)-the Math Inspectors add a lot of fun to the subject. Thanks Mr. Kennedy for a fun read of a good story, and a teaching tool the both the kids and I enjoyed.

I like the fact it makes math a fun challenge
I bought this for my 10 year son, who is a voracious reader and loves mysteries, and he just loves the series (he has all 4 books). I like the fact it makes math a fun challenge, not a chore, and still managed to entertain my bright child. Per my son's request, "keep writing more in the series."

Great Read
Enjoyable read. You get a real feel for the characters. They are the goofy friends we have or remember. I read this with my Nephew who is 8. He really liked this book and looks forward to reading the whole series.

Fun & Funny
The story was engaging, unpredictable, and made me laugh out loud. As an added bonus, it teaches math concepts in a way that both makes them fun to learn and demonstrates that math actually is useful in the real world.
