Kalmbach Feeds 17% Organic Crumbles Feed for Layer Chickens, 35 lb Bag

Ever since switching to this feed the chickens are eating more, wasting less, and the egg yolks are a rich dark yellow/orange color. Prior on other brands they were much more pale. And, the smell is really delicious - I can smell the garlic, pepper, spices? Whatever it is, the cats were very into it and tore open the bag before it made it out to the chicken shed. They ate about 1/4c. So it passes the taste test and quality control from both poultry and felines. LOL

Hens loved this feed. Eggs were brighter, hens looked healthier. Highly recommended.

My hens love this product. The only drawback is that when you get near the end of the bag the crumble is powder.

Shipping is horrible, I am just gonna get that out there. Every time we order it takes so long. I figured it was due to it being winter at first and here we are again. Over a week is extensive. It is quicker to go to the feed store and even cheaper for quality feed. I wanted to give this another try, but I’m not sure that I’ll be buying it again.Ingredient wise, it’s not horrible but not top notch either. I do get good size eggs with it and plants of double yolks. My hens are happy and healthy and seem to love it. Yolk color is amazing on this feed.

Everything is expensive now so..that being said...we LOVE this food! My girls gobble it up and don't waste a crumb!

My chickens will eat this. I love that it’s organic too. I do provide them with an organic hole grain also because I have roosters and they don’t need all that calcium. Most prefer the whole grains and absolutely refuse to eat any kind of pellets but they are eating this crumble :-)

and the yolks of her eggs are more orange than on her previous organic crumble.

Everything else is great if the chickens liked it. BUT THEY DONT. Don’t get me wrong, the pellets from this store and the crumbles are both quality feed. It was by mistake I bought the crumbles. Personally my 16 chickens and 1 rooster Hate the crumbles. They waste it by whipping it out of feeders. The pellets however, the chickens love. They eat more of it and complain less. I like when I know the food is going where it should. This company makes great food quality. Definitely buying more pellets. I wish it cost a little less. Anymore and I have to go back to buying from feed store .
