Great for the money, but with some caveats.
TLDR :Pros• Great Price• Comes with a TB3 cable of decent length• True one cable solution (Great port selection and charges machine)• 4k at 60Hz• No weird external monitor issues, unlike Apple donglesCons• Loud• Runs HotI bought this for my 2017 MacBook Pro (no touchbar), to replace my Apple AV dongle.Right off the bat I was impressed that it came with a long thunderbolt 3 cable and did not need a power brick. The unit is small enough, about the same footprint as an external 2.5' HDD whilst a little taller, but very light so it's prone to being lifted of the desk if used with a particularly stiff cable. Functionality is great the usb ports are fast, the HDMI port wakes my monitor from sleep and supports 4k at 60Hz.Now the caveats. It is loud, comparable to a MacBook when under load, though the fan doesn't spin up immediately so if you work in a particularly cold room this might not be an issue. That said it is definitely not suitable for those who do audio work or are sensitive about noise in their work environment. To add to this, the unit runs hot, very hot. Perhaps not an issue for some people as my unit doesn't seem to suffer any performance issues because of this, but I was surprised as to quite how warm the top of the unit becomes. The bottom line is that at this price point, you are unlikely to get another dock as full featured as this one but it's not totally perfect.

Great for MacBook Pro as well as iPad Pro 12.9 2021 M1
A little under-powered to charge a MacBook Pro that is under full load (if utilization drops down or it's sleeping, it will charge). All features of it work as expected. The card slots are not the fastest but, it's a nice addition. USB ports operate at advertised speeds.I'm using a different hub/dock with my MacBook Pro so I wasn't sure what to do with it.I just got a 2021 12.9" iPad Pro (M1) and I wanted to see what it could do.Here's what I've tested:Charging - if your iPad is fully discharged, it won't charge on its own, unattended. Meaning, you need to plug it in, wait a few minutes until it boots and then unplug and plug it back in (I think the iPad does some sort of 'device security' or 'MFI check') in order for it to continue charging. It will charge just fine if it's not down below 2-3%. And, since this is puts out in excess of 30W, you can charge the iPad at the fastest rate it supports — far faster than the 20W charger that comes in the box! I went from 2% to 34% in about 38 minutes.USB ports - works with all of them. I even used a Yubikey to perform authentication for work.HDMI - Mirrors to my monitor as expected. (Apple needs to add support for 2nd display rather than just mirror.)SD card slot - Saw the card and was ready to import any photos.Ethernet - untestedOverall, an amazing bonus that you can use this with a current iPad with Thunderbolt 3 as well as a current laptop with USB-C or Thunderbolt 3. I'll definitely be taking advantage of this for my future photography workflows on the iPad.

Good Dock with a Small Footprint
I purchased this so I could turn my new laptop - which only has 2 USB-C ports - into a desktop workstation, and so far it's working great for that purpose. I appreciate that it doesn't take up much space on my desk, but the obvious trade off is fewer ports available, so you'll have to decide if that's worth it to you. It would have been nice if they could have fit one more USB-C port on it, but this hasn't proven a major issue for me. My bigger complaint is that the fan has a tendency to run slightly loud, which can be annoying at times, but again is a trade off with the smaller size and it isn't terribly distracting either. I was able to get this for $50 off with a coupon from Anker's website which made it close to a no-brainer for me, but at full price I might have seriously considered spending a few extra dollars to upgrade to a bigger dock with more functionality. Overall though, I would recommend it.PROS:-Compact and lightweight-Thunderbolt 3 compatibility is very nice-Was able to get it on sale through Anker's websiteCONS:-Few usable ports compared to larger competitors-Fan noise is loud and near-constant when in use-May not be the best value at full price

Works great. Ships with a 2-ft cable. Should have also shipped with a frozen steak.
I bought this because my Macbook Air only has two Thunderbolt (USB-C) ports. After a couple days with it, I'm mostly happy, but there are a few things you should know before you buy.Good: I can definitely confirm that the included 2-Ft. Thunderbolt (USB-C) cable works to drive 4k/60hz video and charge the laptop at the same time. Not so good: It wasn't clear to me that this thing came with a cable, so I spent like $30 to get another Thunderbolt cable from Apple. Don't buy another cable. You don't need it.Bad: HEAT and NOISE. This little guy throws out lots of heat. In a 72F office, the internal fan runs constantly, and it's LOUD. Currently I've worked around this by placing the device on top of a frozen steak. It is much cooler now, the fan has turned off, and my office is blissfully quiet again. Not sure what I'll do when the steak thaws... Probably eat it.So if you love steaks and are mildly annoyed with Apple, you should buy this right away for all your steak thawing needs. Oh, and you'll only have one cable coming out of your laptop. Bully for you.

Not great
Odd use of multiple sides for ports creates a visual & functional mess. Front USB-A port stopped working for a while after being left on for >24hr. Wouldn’t recommend.
