This thermometer was thoroughly tested against our previously owned contactless thermometer.The package includes:thermometer, batteries, instruction manual, quick start guide, and soft storage bag.Battery installation was easy. To use as an in-ear thermometer, just pop the cap off the sensor (as shown in the photos).This has accurate temperatures and is within 0.3°F of the contactless thermometer every single time. The in-ear temperature does run about 1° hotter.IMPORTANT - I saw a lot of angry reviewers that were upset that this is not a contactless thermometer. I don't know if the description was changed, but I didn't see anywhere that said it was contactless. If you are buying this for your family, like I did, you don't need to worry about it being contactless. You are sharing a home already, so a plastic piece the size of a quarter touching your forehead isn't going to hurt you.With that being said, do not follow the instructions for the forehead temp. It says you have to place the thermometer on the forehead and then hold the button while moving the thermometer across the forehead to the temple. Don't do this. The thermometer doesn't even function at all in this way. Just simply place the sensor on the forehead and press the button once. It reads the temp in one second.DO read the instructions for the ear temp. You must pull the ear up to allow the ear canal to straighten. If you don't do this, the temp will be inaccurate.

This thermometer is awesome. I had the exergen thermometer, which is forehead readings only, but it broke after just 2 years; I bought this thermometer to replace it. My review compares the two products...I have two young children, one hates having his temperature on his head and the other hates having things stuck in their ear. I thought I’d need two thermometers to accommodate my oddly particular children, but this serves both. Super easy to use - there’s a cap that pops off to expose the ear thermometer, or the cap on for forehead readings. I was a little nervous about accuracy, since that seemed to be the only complaint in other reviews. The exergen never gave me the same reading twice, so precise readings is not my expectation. After 4 different tests, all 3 readings (ear, forehead, infrared) were within .5 degrees of each other. So maybe not 100% accurate but it does the job on telling me whether my child has a fever or not.The screen is big (much bigger than exergen), backlit, and easy to read.I love that the battery compartment is easy to access, unlike exergen - I’d break a nail almost every time I had to change batteries.The only concern is it doesn’t feel as durable (heavy) as the exergen thermometer, so I am worried about how it will hold up if I were to drop it, but so far it seems like a great buy.Overall, I prefer this to the exergen thermometer - But I’ll update my review if it doesn’t hold up as long.

Overall this is a nice thermometer. It’s a good value compared to many other infrared thermometers on the market.Personally I don’t find ANY infrared thermometers to be exceptionally accurate. I have them simply to get an approximate temp quickly. Forehead will usually be about 1/2 to 1 full degree lower than oral while a reading from the ear will generally be 1/2 to 1 full degree higher than oral. That’s ALL thermometers using those contact points. That being said, this thermometer falls within those parameters and does what I expect it to. Give a quick reading.I’m satisfied with this device.

Although I do Keep another thermometer in my medical bad I feel its better to have two just in case something happens to one of them. Easy to use just put the end in the center of the forehead and push and hold the button while you move it slowly to the temple and release the button. You get your reading very fast. I have check the temperature with two other thermometers I have and the readings on average are +-0.2°F. So in my opinion this thermometer is very accurate despite my expectations for these forehead thermometers. I have not used the ear part of this thermometer and I don't think I ever will. If you do they recommend you to clean it right away with some isoproply alcohol and a q-tip. Be careful Not to run it under water as for this is not waterproof and you may damage it. It would be nice if they would make some disposable covers to keep the ear part clean during use. You can also use the thermometer to take reading of other things around the house Like a no contact temperature gun. This may be useful for some people. Comes with a nice cloth storage bag and batteries also!

Yes, it is quick, easy, and does not involve a mercury thermometer to get your temp. BUT IT IS TOTALLY INACCURATE AND THEREFORE USELESS. My temperature is off by 1 to 3 degrees when I use it, so I cannot tell if I have a fever or not. Example, feeling healthy it says my temp is 97.4 degrees, I am always 98.6. You cannot rely on this for medical care, avoid.SINCE POSTING THIS REVIEW I HAVE BEEN HARASSED BY THE SELLER WHO IS EXTORTING ME TO REMOVE IT AND CONSTANTLY HARASSING ME THROUGH FAKE NAMES AT DIFFERENT GMAIL ADDRESSES. I HAVE CONTACTED AMAZON SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THIS VIOLATION OF THE TERMS OF SERVICE AND AMAZON HAS PROMISED ACTION AGAINST THE SELLER.
