Q: Can I do an iron on transfer or will it melt?

I would not take the chance and do an iron on decal. It has a water proof coating. Maybe a loose sew on patch would be ok

Q: Is there plastic on the inside? I'm replacing my old one (different brand) due to the plastic breaking up and staining items I put inside.

There is a grey lining inside both compartments. It did not stain any of my items that I kept inside of it. I’ve used it for running, walking & while at a Waterpark. The lining did not break. Very well made and sturdy.
