If you’re looking for the convenience of a moisturizer + sunscreen combo–as opposed to using separate moisturizer and sunscreen products–this is an excellent choice. It works exactly as advertised: it’s non-greasy, goes on light, absorbs relatively fast (15 minutes), doesn’t leave any of the dreaded white cast, and has minimal shine. I have dry/sensitive skin, and this moisturizer leaves my face feeling well hydrated and protected without causing any redness, inflammation, or clogged pores. I’ve seen some reviews complain about the packaging and the cost. Not sure what that’s about. This is a standard squeeze bottle. It works fine. You squeeze it, a normal amount of the product comes out. And the cost is comparable to similar products. For example, a 3.3 fluid-ounce bottle of Jack Black’s Double Duty Face Moisturizer with SPF 20 costs $32. But, 1) that’s a chemical-based sunscreen, and 2) it has the absolute worst pump bottle of any face product I’ve ever used. (Speaking of bad packaging.) However, note that this is only SPF 20, which is minimal protection. Again, it works as advertised, which is to say it’s “ideal for those days with limited sun exposure like running errands or taking the dog outside.” But if you’re going to be spending more time out in the sun–like, if you’ve got a hankering for a chili-cheese Big Bite, and the nearest 7-11 is a few blocks away–you’re going to want a higher SPF. (Brickell also has a heavier “Element Defense Moisturizer with Mineral/Zinc-Based SPF 45" product that’s otherwise nearly identical to this one.) Finally, it’s important to know that–as is the case with many mineral sunscreens–this product does NOT wash off easily at the end of the day. During your nighttime face routine, your standard face wash will likely not do the trick. (You DO have a nighttime face routine, right? RIGHT???) In order to get it fully washed off, you’ll probably want to start your routine with an oil-based or micellar-water cleanser. (If you’re unfamiliar with the “double cleanse,” search for it online.) Such is the price of beauty, gentlemen.
