The Best Guide to Speed Reading
I’ve tried countless speed reading books and apps, and they never seemed to truly help me read faster after I finished the exercises. This book is radically different. I’ve easily doubled my reading speed—and I haven’t even finished the book yet. Great book, excellent descriptions, and helpful practice drills to use within the book and in other reading materials to ensure that you’re able to put each technique into practice. I’ll probably reread this book a few times until it all really sinks in. I can’t recommend it enough.

Saves me 2 hours each week!
As a podcast host who interviews authors on a weekly basis, I must read...A LOT. 4 books a month to be exact. Before picking up Speed Reading I could barely keep up...and honestly couldn't keep up. Something had to change. That's when I came across Speed Reading by Kam Knight. The average 200 page book used to take me 4-5 hours to work through. After learning many of the simple tips Kam provides (like flipping through books before reading them and not pronouncing each word in my head) I've been able to get that down to 2-3 hours per book. As I continue to practice what Kam teaches, I'm sure I will be able to decrease my reading time even further. The second thing I wanted to talk about was the belief I had that by speeding up your reading, you'd lose comprehension. Kam isn't telling you to speed for the sake of speeding. Applying these tacticts, I've actually been able to RETAIN the information I'm reading about. Obviously, if I'm having in depth conversations with the authors I'm interviewing, I need to actually understand their books.Lastly, this book is as concise as could be. It took me only an hour to read - think of this book as an investment in getting time back while understanding what you're reading at a deeper level.10/5 if I could...

Fantastic book!
This is an excellent book on speed reading! Kam Knight's book is now a part of the personal department section of my personal library in addition to my Evelyn Wood book on speed reading.

Great lessons I would have liked to have learned a long time ago.
The progressive format made for an easy, and digestible read. I enjoyed the systematic references to previous content in the material keeping everything tied together. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to improve their reading speed as well as their comprehension.

Goes on my top shelf
This book goes on my top shelf. Loved all the examples and exercises and it noticeably helped me. I’ll be doing a recall and review sessions and re-reading key chapters. They are worth remembering and applying.

Not a bad place to start
I'm a master's student at the University of Texas, which means I read a lot, more or less it's my life right now. So I've studied plenty about reading and learning including Jim Kwik and Evelyn Woods, and even the newer authors in the sphere. I can honestly say this one stands out in many respects.First, the book backs up its claims with research. Majority of the other guys don't support their claims like this book, which cites a wealth of journals, publications, and experts. Even common sense suggestions have support.Second, the writing is solid. It's easy to read, the content is carefully organized, and Kam's explanations are insightfully creative, so you're not just reading a bunch of instructions, but instilling better habits. It's an experience, you have to read it to understand.Third, as a masters student, I not only have to read a lot, but understand, remember, and spit back that info, either in exams, presentations, or meetings. As the book stresses over and over, increasing speed without increasing comprehension is "not" speed reading, so you'll learn many strategies for raising understanding and memory with the speed.Fourth and the main reason the book stands out, are the novel techniques not in other books, like Space Reading. For me, Space Reading was hands down the best and easiest way to improve my reading speed and comprehension, it was almost instant. The technique single handedly tripled my reading ability and now I race through books in record time.Though it is not without its flaws. No doubt some of the tips are obvious and common sense, and some you have already learned, but all in all, it's not a bad book. The techniques do work so if you're new to speed reading, I'd start here as the writing and explanation make the concepts easy to grasp and apply, and using the techniques is what matters more than learning a bunch of stuff you never put to practice.

When reading becomes easy, it also becomes fun
Wow..this book really delivered. There's one short chapter that more than doubled my reading speed before I finished it! And it even goes beyond that with further techniques. There's chapters on memory recall and comprehension as well. I don't give reviews..I just don't do it, but was just so impressed with how much this little book helped I figured it's the least I could do. When reading becomes easy, it also becomes fun.. Definitely going to pass this on to my nephews!

Speed reading 101
Speeding reading 101. Introduce to some speed reading techniques and the reasoning behind those techniques, which is great. But speed reading itself isn't magic, it takes efforts and mindfulness. The title is exaggerated that is why I take off one star.
