Best of all slack key books
Great book. Mark Nelson does a wonderful job of arranging, explaining ans laying out material. Includes some GCEA then GCEG tunes, how to play, then into c Wahanie etc. This book encourages those interested in slack key! Tunes are progressive. Not overwhelming but encouraging. This is the expanded and updated version of his earlier slack key book. I had owed that one as well but love this one as has more material, easier to use since it’s normal sized pages.Well worth the money.

Once you get the audio, It’s great
Mark Nelson is a talented musician and generous teacher (see his you tube videos). The songs selected, the arrangements, the TAB/notation, and the teaching material are all great.However. The publisher has discontinued including audio CDs, and downloading the audio file from the website is not obvious, and you get *zero* help from Mel Bay pubs.Start with the url next to the “online audio” symbol on the title page. (I don’t want to provide it here and tempt readers to download the audio without purchasing the book.) Then by trial and error you download it. The files are located in a .zip file *in random order.* They occupy about 79 MB.Finally after all this you open your book and your zip file, and see/hear the arrangement you want to learn. Not an improvement over the CD in my opinion, but ultimately gets it done.

Clear Instructions for beautiful melodies
I love learning slack key ukulele from Mark Nelson's book because it starts you out very simply so that you don't get discouraged. Then, as you proceed from lesson to lesson and song to song, you keep building slack key skills and the melodies are just lovely. Downloading the sound examples onto your device is easy and I like that there's no need to deal with a CD.
