200 Curries: Hamlyn All Color Paperback – February 1, 2009

Very accessible recipes, results seem authentic (as far as I can tell). By accessible, I mean that while I read I can imagine myself making the dish, then when actually cooking I understand the process well enough to make successful changes and substitutions. As for authentic...how do I know? (ha-ha). But I've also been reading some very detailed curry books, and tho the recipes here are a little simpler, the process and results seem faithful to the other things I've learned (and eaten). The pictures are helpful, in that they actually do look like what I prepare, so now I trust the photos too.

A treasure of a tome with masses of delicious recipes. We've tried many many of them and have not been disappointed once.

We went through a few Indian/Thai/curry recipe books before we got this one...and I bought this one on a lark. We've tried 4 recipes out of here so far, and they've ranged from outstanding to very good. Any kind of curry cooking is going to require a bit of fleshing out in terms of your spice collection, but beyond that, these recipes are able to be followed easily and produce really flavorful dishes. We've tried the chicken mahkani, kofta curry, cashew chicken and spinach and chicken curry. The book is nicely laid out as well. As you open to each set of 2 pages, you have a picture, ingredients, and directions. It is a sturdy book.Highly recommend if you want a variety of easy to make curries.

I actually bought this book from Home Goods. With that aside, I love this book. I've done several recipes from this book and they've all been delicious! Not a single miss. The ingredients are all easy to find, with the exception of a few things. The basic spices - like cumin, paprika, coriander, etc - should be found in your local Shaw's or Stop&Shop and so on. So main points: great recipes, great price, definitely worth the buy :)
