Wonderful toy
I ordered this for my grandson and was pleased at how quickly it arrived, and how tremendously he has enjoyed it. He feels like he has a tablet all his own and the best part is that this will "grow" with him as things can be added to reflect his age and interests.

Save your time, money, and frustration. (Buy a Kindle or another device)
We purchased two MEEP X2 tablets directly from Oregon Scientific this January for our children. The experience has not be pleasant.MicroUSB Port: Within the first week the microUSB port pushed into the case of one unit. Oregon Scientific quickly offered to replace the tablet. This transaction took two weeks from the time I sent them defective unit. Just this week the microUSB port on the second failed and will not charge. We called the Oregon Scientific helpline again for assistance. This time we were told that the units were out of warranty and they would not be able to help us.Battery Life: The battery life on the units are poor. They need to be recharged approximately after two hours of use. Oregon Scientifics helpline told us that we needed to reduce the screen resolution. I have a Kindle FireHD that I run on the highest resolution and the battery life is more than 8 hours with heavy use.Parental Controls: A major concern with the parental controls is that you have to turn the security controls down to 'LOW' to give access to either the internet or YouTube. This prevents you from being able to use the time limit features. I've found the Kindle Free Time software to be easier to use and more intuitive.WiFi Controls: The WiFi controls are easily accessible from the home screen. This can be a problem if your children are at the lower end of the age bracket for this device. Ours were always playing around with the WiFi settings and either losing the info for our router or connecting to various open routers in the general vicinity. For a kids tablet using an OEM proprietary interface I would think that they would have thought about or seen it in their product testing with the target audience.Uploading Music or Video files: You cannot upload music or video files to the device unless you install a memory card. The product literature is not clear on this.Instructions and Web Site Help Files: Both the instructions that came with the units and the help section of the MEEP web site are weak. It's appears that they did not verify their literature against the actual product.

Buy a kindle or any other tablet.
I bought this for my 5 year old twin girls- so they could take pictures and Skype. They already have kindle tablets-which they love, but it does not have a camera. They always use my iPhone and iPad to take pictures. I bought this tablet because I got a really good price --big mistake. It is so complicated, slow, and none of the accessories work well. Thus tablet is comparable to a 1986 computer or an Atari-compared to what children and adults expect today. It appears that they wanted so many safety features to entice parents, but it was poorly executed. I can not find any pros with this tablet. You will be online searching for answers and stuck with frustrated kids-especially if they have used "real" tablets. Spend the money on an iPad, kindle, or google tablet-this was an epic fail!

Be a good parent and just monitor what your children is using ...
Do NOT buy this tablet; the 'security' concept is appealing but the practicality/management of this tablet is impossible! Be a good parent and just monitor what your children is using on whatever other tablet you decide to buy them. Both of you will be much happier with without this tablet. The touch screen is more like 'push hard' screen. The micro-usb cable and port are of the poorest quality only surpassed by the poor battery life and the amount of time it takes to recharge it.Definitely have buyer regret BIG time...spare yourself.

Interesting concept - lousy quality
The MEEP! X2 has a functional Android 4.2 tablet hidden under the kids' user interface. Great concept. Reasonable connectivity (WiFi, Bluetooth), slow USB, microHDMI out, stereo out, built-in microphone, external microphone jack. Here are the BIG BUTs:Screen is subpar, and the touchscreen interface is very inconsistent - a pain to operate. Speaker is very low quality, even for games. The microUSB connector on the charger cable broke on the second day of gentle use. O.S. Customer service couldn't have cared less and simply recommended to go to RadioShack for a replacement. After a month the microUSB connector inside the MEEP pushed off the board rendering the MEEP useless - no way to charge the unit. This is simply a lousy solder job - the connector tabs and body were not soldered to the motherboard, only the five tiny contacts held this critical connector in place originally. I am leery that customer service will send us to the Shack again to solve this problem...Bottomline: I can't recommend the MEEP! X2 - you and your kids will be disappointed when it breaks.

PLEASE DO NOT BUY!!!
Daughter got this from Santa for Christmas. Wonderful for the first month... then troubles came. Charger USB port is extremely tiny & sensitive - will not charge properly = cannot play. Called the company. They had no clue on what to do. HOWEVER on the FAQs, 1 of the 4 questions (yes, only 4 questions total) was that the charger USB port can break easily! WOW! Needs to be addressed, as little kids are using this. Not sure what to do now - limited warranty information is nowhere to be found.Waste of $$$$
