Useful tool.
I had a need to drill several ,vertical, 1/2" holes in wood, with an accuracy that was beyond my abilities, but the workpiece was in a location that made using a drill press impossible.so I bought this guide.I works well, although only if the user takes the time to set it up carefully. It only has a 4-inch stroke, so one needs drills of assortedlength in order to go deeper. It is lightweight and shimmies so that I found it necessary to clamp the base securely. The chuck works well. I drove it with a half-inch battery powered drill. I suggest driving it with a socket rather than attaching the drill directly--otherwise getting the drill chuck on and off the shaft might disturb your careful setup.I got my holes drilled with a lot better results than if I did not have the guide and consider that I got my money's worth. I am satisfied with my purchase, but I do not recommend it as a substitute for a drill press.

Best Drill Guide I have found, but still has some shortcomings.
Best drill guide I have found so far but still not great. The machining and bearings are better than any other I have found so it drills fairly accurate holes. The problem is the guide is somewhat difficult to hold steady and flat. I added a much larger MDF base which helps but the asymmetric design with a single vertical leg is still a challenge to hold steady. Worth the extra money because of the far better bearings and machining and the great customer service (I called them and they were very helpful and responsive) but I am still looking for a great one.

poor workmanship
Thoroughly disappointed with this jig. First, the aluminum frame is out of plumb by at least 2 degrees. Then it has so much flex on the downstroke that it is not possible to drill a holes perpendicular to a post or beam. On top of that the drill bit does not seat straight in the chuck. I was going to return it, but unfortunately missed the return window. I ended up making my own jig with drill bushing. That worked great.

Four Stars
As expected. Return spring could be stronger. Chuck needs major improvement.
