1906 San Francisco Earthquake (Images of America)

Having always been fascinated by this city and such a tragic disaster that befell it over a century ago, I finally found the before and after side-by-side photos that his book presents. Always read the Introduction. It may be brief in some of the Images Of America books, but it is very informative. As one pages through the pictures, an ordered calm can be seen in each representation as people not only recovery from a force of nature but move on with their lives. (ie: citizens setting up food stands, first-aid tents, city/gov't aid, and reporters/newspaper men typing at desks on the edge of the still burning rubble). All of the images are truly moving and persevering as this great city rebounded and thrived into the great metropolis it is today.

I enjoyed this book very much. Short of having a time machine , this is the next best way to travel back through time.

This is a light light overview of the San Francisco Earthquake. The real value of the book is the valueable images with their context. Definitely worth it just for that.

I bought this to see if my Aunt Eads' pictures of the earthquake had ever been publish. Most of them have not. Good to know. I just plan to put them with her Genealogy family sheets. She did not have any children, and I want my children to know their Great Aunt.

Wish I would have paid closer attention to content. I didn’t want a picture book. It’s a nice coffee table thumb thru book thou.

Don't waste your money. This book is mostly pictures and you can get the same information from the internet. There is no story of eyewitness accounts.

I have bought over thirty of these books and I am amazed at the fact that they are able to condense this books within 127 pages.Very very informative. Great pictures. Especially if you enjoy Calfornia history.

The writing is great and really makes you feel like you are there!
