A dog who just wants to help others.
I'm not a huge dog person, but even I found Magnus cute. Being so big is a problem for Magnus, and it feels like all aspects of his life are explored (where he sleeps, where he can play, and how he can help others rather than be a hindrance. His heart is bigger than his body, he just wants to have a purpose. The illustrations are fun to look at, especially with the ability to zoom in and appreciate the finer details on an ebook reader. The reason for the lower grade which could be because I had an advance reader copy is that there seemed to be a page or two missing before the finale, which meant there was next to no build up to it and split sentences which didn't make sense.I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review on my blog Nayu's Reading Corner http://nayusreadingcorner.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/magnus-by-claire-shorrock-childrens.html

A job where his size is a good thing. I love that this book took what ...
I received a copy of this book in return for my honest review. All opinions are my own. While this book reminded me a lot of Clifford, it was a little bit different. Magnus really tries to find a way to fit into a world where he literally doesn't fit. He finally finds his place in being a helper to the city. A job where his size is a good thing. I love that this book took what Magnus saw as his flaw and turned it into a positive thing. It also had adorable illustrations and an easy enough story line for my youngest to read on her own.

Who wouldn't want a giant dog?
Magnus tells the story of a GIGANTIC dog. Unfortunately Magnus can't seem to fit in anywhere. He is too big to play and everything he does seems to cause a problem. However one day when a fire breaks out Magnus is there to save the day. His large size is perfect for taking care of the dangerous fire. This book reminded me of the Clifford books that have been around for years. The story is still cute but I am not sure if children will want to read it over and over as there are so many in the Clifford series. The message of acceptance and finding what you are good at is a good one. The illustrations are quite cute and the colours are accurate.

Fun story!
Magnus is a very large dog and sometimes it causes problems. But when a problem arises, Magnus is able to use his large size to save the day. Very cute book with great illustrations. ARC through Netgalley and Lion Hudson for honest review.
