These are great containers. The only caveat is that the lids do not seem to be dishwasher safe. The rust after only one use in the dishwasher.

What else would we to hold our clarified butter. Now we can make more when we find unsalted real butter on sale. Steak cooked in cast iron pan, with a good spoon of clarified butter added near the end and spooned over the steak and smothered in onions and mushrooms. You can keep the steak sauces, this is one great steak. Heck, I will buy my wife more jars if that is what it takes to get more.

This box of six glass jars arrived yesterday, there was no packing material in the box, just feeble cardboard dividers, so one of the jars was shattered - not just broken. I guess the miracle is that they weren't all destroyed, and so I decided to settle for the five good ones rather than do a return and have more broken jars in the replacement box. The jars themselves are quite nice, good for sprouting small amounts.

I had ordered another brand of jars for Overnight Oats. Sadly the lid was challenging & when you would turn upside down to mix, it would leak. The Ball Mason Jars are Superior! the lid is easy to put on and take off plus the lids do not leak.

I bought these for freezing. I've been looking for freezer 16 oz jars like the blue ones I bought a couple years ago. For me these are perfect and not expensive at all. I guess you can buy canning jars more cheaply and if that's what you do then these are the wrong jars. I make big pot meals and freeze meal portions in these jars. They have freezer imprinted on them. If anything it's the description is off. So bottom line is if you want to freeze, buy these jars. They are great. If you want to can you can buy other jars more cheaply. You can also, if you so desire, use these for canning. They are multi-purpose or I think so anyway.
