Decent first impressions. Softbox works well. Bag zipper is terrible.
First impressions after unboxing and setting it up with my Light fixture; My use case is video production. The outer, black, shell material is very thick. Feels almost like fake leather. Makes for what feels will be a durable product. But I think it also adds to the weight of it.The front white diffusing material fits well inside the frame of the box. The velcro is about 1 inch thick on its edges. No light seemed to leek from the edges. The material is a very light weight silky type. Probably nylon. I have to test it further to see how well it diffuses the light and how many stops it reduces the light. But I noticed that by looking at the soft box from the front, the light diffuses on a very narrow and tall pattern. It does not look like a uniformly diffused light source. Rather it looks like the light is going through a gel that narrows it to a thin line. There are some clear theatrical gels that do this kind of light 'bending'. I'm not sure if this will affect the diffusion of the light on a subject's face and create a narrow hot spot. Need to test more. But Did not look like the whole front face of the diffusion box was outputting one large soft, even, light source. (have not tested looking at subject on video screen)The inner, smaller diffusion baffle, is quite small. And about 75% into the box. So about 2/3rds inside, closer to the speed ring then to the large side. It clips on to the inside of the box with small metal clips, that are on thin elastic band loops stitched onto the 4 corners of the cloth and the inside of the box. This system feels less durable then the more traditional double velcro system I am used to with other brands. It feels like with enough handling and wear and tear, the elastic bands can rip out. And taking off the inner baffle through the back, small hole of the box was quite difficult.I will switch out these tiny metal clips for some other easier system. I'm think of small carabiners. Because the clips are tiny, hard and slippery. Not and ideal combo for when working on set.The Speed ring is metal and aluminum. It rotates quite well. And has a small screw knob to lock the rotation in place. It fit into the Bowens mount of my light well. It has many small holes on the outer edge to accommodate for softboxes of different shapes (is my guess). The holes are number coded 1, 2, 3, so you can match all the numbers 1's or the number 2's and so on, depending on the shape of your softbox. I like the universality of this design. The 4 metal rods are quite stiff, and the ends have soft metal 'pellets' on them to help save the softbox from getting ripped and poked through. They seem to be well pressed in. I don't expect them to fall off, as I have read some reviewers say of other brands. The rods go through a small loop sewed into the 4 corners of the box, and then get placed into the outer corners of the box into what look and feel like very durable small pockets. I feel like the inside loops might tear apart if not treaded gently. Yet the outer corner pockets feel extra strong. The assembly is relatively easy, if you are familiar working with softboxes. If not, you might find it a bit tricky. Its a matter of practicing many times till it feels you get the hang of it. Usually building the box is easier then breaking it apart. As the rods need to be bent with quite a bit of force, while holding the box and the speed ring at the right angles. Time will tell if the rods bend, or stay straight, and if the box will put up with lots of building it and breaking it down. The Grid is made of some light weight black cloth. It seems all the places where the grid crosses are stitched together. I have worked with grids that come apart for some reason. This one will stay stuck together as you handle it. The inner edge of the frame of the grid has about 1/4 inch velcro. I'm used to ones that have 1/2 velcro. But when I stuck it to the frame of the box, it seemed to stay stuck quite well. And it fit the box well. Even when the light and box are pointed down at a 45 degree angle, the grid stayed in place quite well. It did sag a bit, but it was within acceptable range compared to other brands. Folding the grid back into its travel size is another tricky action. Again, practice will make perfect and paying attention to how it was unfolded and trying to see the 'memory' of the piece as you unfold it and refold it will help. It comes inside a plastic bag without any zipper or closing mechanism. So I put it inside a large ziplock type bag, with the inner baffle, to keep them nicely folded. The Long case / bag to keep the whole kit inside is made for just enough space to be able to squeeze all the items inside just right. Very little, if any, space to spare. I fold the softbox with the outer diffusion on. And it worked fine. You could even keep both diffusers on the box as you fold it for travel, and it would fit in its carry case. The handle and zipper on the carry case are just good enough for the job. I feel they are a bit on the light duty side. I would have liked a tougher feeling handle and a stronger feeling zipper. Hopefully they won't break with wear and tear.I may update this review in time, once I have used this softbox a few times on projects in the field. My main concern right now is if the light will diffuse evenly. That narrow light pattern I saw through the front worries me a bit. But I'll give this a try and see how well it works.Update: May 2019The softbox works well. The speed ring is a bit tough to deal with. The rods of the softbox have to be bent quite a bit. Its a matter of getting the hang of it.The bag is no good. The zipper already broke after 3 uses or so. Specifically the tab of the zipper one pulls on separated from the zipper itself. It stayed on one side of the zipper. The way the zipper is sewed onto the bag, there is no way if getting to the end of the zipper to see if I can get the zipper inserted into the tab / handle part. So after only a few uses, the bag is worthless. I have to go from 4 stars to 3 stars now. Since having a decent bag for the gear is very important.Godox: Please improve the quality of the zipper on the bag. A more heavy duty type. Since this item is built for portability, it is expected that the item will be assembled and disassembled often, and the bag will get a lot of use, and the zipper will be opened and closed often. Please!

Sturdy, but tough to set up.
The good:This is a fantastic soft box. Includes two levels of diffusion, plus has a Velcro grid for more light control. It is a standard quick Bowens connection. This is a large box that fits neatly into a portable flat carry bag. Now for the bad. The material used is very tough and I would expect it to last a long time, if taken care of properly. The Bad:Setting this up for the first time was a PAIN!! Imagine setting up a tent, in the rain, with mosquitoes swarming. Maybe not that bad but it did take some time to get it together. Once together it is SUPER STURDY. Taking it down is again very tough, once it is apart it fits nicely back into the carry bag. After setting up and taking down a couple of times it gets easier. Make sure that you know how to before taking it on location and looking like you don't know what you are doing. The Ugly:Nothing is really ugly about this soft box. Once used to the setup even the bad isn't so bad. I didn't give this 5 start because I think that there should be a simpler or easier way to get it setup.

Great quality
I've been shooting with softboxes since the 1980s. I've owned some of the more expensive units out there. This Godox box was the easiest to assemble of all of them. Certainly a lot easier than the Neewer one I had come in last week. The box itself feels as good as any Photoflex box I've used. The light is very good, and the grid fits very well.

Absolutely wonderful to use!
I love the removeable grids.I love the size.I love how easy they are to mountMost of all - I love how easy they are to get through tight spaces when I have to transport them from point A to point B. In short - I love these.

Great softbox for the $$
Typical Godox softbox, works great, does its intended job. But like all Godox Softboxes, once you assemble, you should probably leave it assembled and the rods are flimsy and break over time with setting up and tearing down. Also corners of box are SUPER thin, so rods poke out very easily over time. 6/10

Good quality.
Despite knowing the dimensions of the product, once you assemble it, it is BIG!The quality feels good and it was easy to set up.I'm doing my first shoots with it, but so far the product meets my expectations. It came with a grid which will help you improve your portraits.Consider the size if you have a small studio or home-studio.

Excellent Product!
Excellent Product!! Put together very intuitively! The available addons including the "grid" make this the only choice for a bowens mount modifier in this or any other rectangular size. Nice case and nice free gift of a usb led lite device. I would definitely recommend this to my fellow photographers!
