Can i get a picture of a whole coin? the usb microscope i have now will only take 2/3 a pic of a penny.

Yes. The scope may also be mounted in a variety of ways to achieve the appropriate distance needed to view the item in it's entirety. I use a camera tripod when needed.

I have a question about the picture, if you use lights say on a coin, do you lose color?

You shouldn't. There might be a slight shift, but I believe you can correct for it. We have used a few coins and they looked amazing! The light isn't harsh and is diffused well enough that it is even.

software sucks

I love this microscope, it is powerful, it is easy to manage, I have had fun, a lot of fun since I got it yesterday, the microscope in itself is so much fun... the microscope is so much fun! software is not too good

Disappointing...

Disappointing... I use these 'scopes in handheld mode to inspect knife edges during sharpening. I was hoping for better depth of field, higher range of magnification and better software than with my Celestron 5MP or my Chinese $20 unit. No such luck. DOF may be slightly better, but software is the worst of the lot. No full screen, no measuring tools. Other scopes can focus on the face plane (I use this surface to handhold on the edges) at two different mags. This one won't.

Micro not Macro

I understood the strength of this system but thought i could make it work for coin and stamp inspection and recording. It is simply too strong for that. If you need to view fibers in cloth or a small portion of a stamp, it is great. I rated it a 5 because it is a good micro tool and it meets all of its advertised features. No reason to de-rate due to my mistake.

Impossible to set up, software is outdated, phone number and site link is wrong.

It's been 4 hours and it can't set up. The zip-file is incredibly complex to navigate. Being a tech-savvy person, this is just a hot mess. The customer service number to contact that is included doesn't belong to CARSON, but instead is a private number. The internet link given to download the instruction manual and software is incorrect, and you must search the site for your product instead of the link getting you there. All-and-all, being a computer science major in college, I really am stunned at the mess made by this company. You'll be sitting there a while figuring this out....
