Timolino40-Ounce Alpine Vacuum Bottle Short, Amber Brown

Works OK, great shape, a few problems
I bought this vacuum bottle because of its form factor. It is short enough to fit in my briefcase and in my file cabinet drawer upright, yet still has the 40 oz large capacity of taller bottles. I like the looks, it reminds me of "Space 1999" props. I wanted the blue color, but for some reason it was way more expensive than the other colors, so I settled for the ivory white. I use it for coffee, and it does an OK, but not amazing job keeping it hot. That is, the last one or two cups of the day need a little microwave boost, or at least pre-tempering a ceramic coffee cup. It keeps coffee hotter longer if I temper it with boiling water for several minutes before adding coffee, but typically I only have the patience to temper it with hot tap water for about one minute. The push button to serve feature is convenient: it is possible to pour coffee using just one hand. However, you need to be careful: you have to keep pouring coffee - the last little bit - after you close the push button valve; otherwise the small amount left in the valve will spill out. I shake the bottle into my cup after closing the valve to avoid spills. Also, due to the cap / valve design, you can't quite empty the entire bottle using the valve. To get the last of the coffee out, you need to remove the cap completely, and coffee trapped in the valve system always seems to spill out at that point. Pouring is a little slow, but that's safer IMO.Because the valve system traps a little liquid, you'd never want to put cream, milk, etc. in the coffee inside the thermos, because it would be very difficult to flush enough water through the valve to clean out old milk. The bottle part is easy to clean; the valve is not. This bottle is better so far than my last one in one respect: my old bottle would make an annoying whistling sound all afternoon as the coffee inside cooled and contracted and air entered the bottle through the cap. This bottle has rubber seals that prevent this. The bottle comes with two cups as described, but be aware that the second cup, which can be nested inside the cap / insulated cup, is nothing more than a plastic shell - like half of a ball. It could be used if nothing else were available, I suppose, but it's not desirable. The main cup (the lid) isn't that great either: it has no handle, only a little crescent of plastic which bumps out and serves no real purpose. I believe the plastic crescent was put there to make the cap blend design-wise with the bottle. I suppose you could put your thumb on that piece to stabilize the cup while your fingers support the bottom, but the cup is still quite awkward to hold securely compared to a cup with a handle.Despite the drawbacks, I gave it a decent rating because I appreciate the company for producing a vacuum bottle for liquids in this hard-to-find height and width.

Very high quality, fit and finish
extremely well made, and gorgeous in the amber brown color. 2 things: I saw the review by one person complaining about the O-ring situation. I called the mfgr., they answered my concerns quickly and professionally; bottom line: if you need o-rings, which you probably won't, they will send them to you. For free. And regarding the customer/owner (troll?) who said they were hard to clean, accumulated disgusting dirt and "they should be recalled and banned from the market", sometimes all you have to do is calm down and call the mfgr. to get an answer- turns out they have a video on YouTube outlining the whole (simple, easy) cleaning procedure. Before you complain, make rash accusations and extreme suggestions (banning, lawsuits, etc, etc) just "do the right (and civil) thing and make the phone call. The people at Timolino are really nice, helpful and cooperative. Their phone is 949-727-0883.

BEWARE OF CLEANING COMPLICATION!! Disgusting!!!!!!!
It seemed this was a great design and easy to use thermos. My first initial cleanings revealed a black substance that seemed to be trapped coffee or some sort of manufacturing grease. I realized I had to unscrew the top nut part of the pour lid. I continued to use the Thermos for several months, and cleaning after every use. Then I still found residue showing itself out of the pour spout piece. I finally took a knife and disassembled the pour spout flush part by sticking a knife point into the flush edge of the spout. It came apart and revealed a trapped area of disgusting filthy old coffee leftovers. I even had put all the pieces in the dishwasher but, this area of the spout was not penetrated. This Thermos should immediately be removed from the market as a health hazard.

Great thermos
I have not used this yet, as I do have 2 more of these that I am now using and I love them. Have no issue with coffee staying hot, but of course I drink my coffee fast

If you like containers that keep the liquids on the inside, and not on the outside, this isn't the one for you.
I bought this container to bring coffee in to work with me. Some times I have to work overnight and it's a lot easier than trying to find a place that is open. I had only three requirements for it. One, that it was big enough to hold all the coffee I needed. Two, that it kept the coffee warm. Three, that it didn't leak when moving it from point A to point B. It did one and two just fine, hence I'm not giving it a one out of five. However it did not do the third part well. I put the container in my bag and a 15 minute walk later I was surprised with a coffee dampened bag. I know what you are probably thinking, I'm mad I have less coffee than I planned right? Nope, mostly just mad that I have a coffee soiled bag, in the middle of the winter, when things can freeze. Anyways, in my humble opinion, this was definitely not worth a buy.
