This is more a reference book than one to read for pleasure or necessarily to read straight through. It's crammed with useful information and advice on preparing for, surviving, and even being comfortable, when possible, in crises. The specific references to good brands and makes is appreciated. I also appreciate Hanson's practical, no-nonsense approach without being alarmist.

Not what I thought the contents would be from the reviews. Some practical advice, some not so much. The advice in this book won't keep many people alive because too many human beings walk around in a daze not being situationally aware. That is the best advice this book gives - to be aware at all times of your surroundings. There are better books such as ones relating to bush craft for outdoor survival. There are better books regarding personal safety. When TSHTF, this book won't be the one that saves people.

I just liked the look of the book and wanted it for my personal collection. Expensive but worth it, as they're not easy books to get from this award winning US author. I recommend as this author knows what he is writing about obviously.
