Glass Works Jozefina Iridescent Amethyst & Marble Brown Shell 14" Bowl

Gorgeous unique piece, the picture does not do it justice. It is a substantial well made piece, it is not made of thin glass. The pointed tips on the one side are not sharp at all, they are nice and thick and it does not appear that they will break off easily. Mine does not have much amethyst in it, mostly beautiful shades of cream and brown, from light to very dark. The glass work is layered and includes clear glass, transparent colored glass and opaque colored glass. The layering makes it look like a shell. The inside is beautifully shaded with a rich golden brown in the center gradually turning dark brown on the edges. The outside is kind of marbled or swirled giving it a textured look even though it is smooth glass. I did not notice "iridescent" in the description when I purchased it and was pleasantly surprised with the faint pearl and very fine gold sparkle in the glass. It isn't over done, barely noticeable just enough to catch the light. You can't see it in the picture but it has a very slight ripple around the bottom, like a shell, again, barely noticeable just enough to add extra dimension. I wasn't sure how the part that curls up would look in person but it is very well done and resembles a conch shell. I have a large colored glass collection and am thrilled with this new addition. It is truly a work of art with many nuances.
