Great fire starter!
I bought two of these. One for myself and one for my 11 year old son. We do a lot of hiking and hunting and I want him to be prepared for an emergency. After a couple of practices, he is able to start a fire by himself out of things in the wild. Great and easy product.

Works Okay, Not as Good as Some
I bought this fire starter because I own a lot of Kershaw knives, all of which are of great quality. This fire starter doesn't quite live up to its name though. I give it 4 stars overall:It does in fact start a fire. That's a plus.It is, however, finicky about striking it at exactly the right angle and applying the proper amount of pressure to the striker. These problems do not appear to affect my friends' strikers of various other brands, so -1 star.Would I buy it again? Probably: I'm a bit anal and I like that it matches my knives...

not too happy
I had to strike this thing several hard times to get it to produce a spark- and then at that point even with very fine dry wood shavings and fine paper along with some dryer lint and cotton it still took a long time to light. it may be great in extreme emergencies but I hope my life doesn't depend on it some day.If you found this review helpful please check the box below- Thanks

great to have
This is great to have when you are in the woods. I have large hands, so this is perfect for when I have to start fires.

Works well. Just get a crappy knife
Overall a solid fire starter works in a pinch. For maximum effectiveness I recommend going to a pawnshop and getting a cheap pocket knife to use as a striker as the included one is terrible.
