Love Todd Rundgren
Todd uses an interesting model of writing a memoir using a page or two describing an event or personal discovery in his life. He is a self-taught man in nearly everything he does. He writes well, in a simple, descriptive, entertaining style. I loved it.

A great telling of a vast career
I loved this book and the clever one page chapter format. I was always a fan of the short story and this book epitomizes that style. With such an amazing career it was a daunting job to put it all into a book but I think Todd nailed it as he always does. It also helped me to understand his music and his belief to keep making it fresh and not get bogged into one formula. The last paragraph in his book is a great take on life. Well done Wizard!

Interesting memoir of a iconoclastic multi-talented creative
Todd Rundgren has been involved in so much in pop music development over his career – as a songwriter/performer, producer and someone who directly pushed boundaries in use of video and technology overall. He's a seminal creative person with a big personality, and came up as part of the music scene in the U.S. in its ultra-heyday (late 60s in early 70s and on) with a unique perspective to share. His book is a personal memoir, broken into small headlined chapters that are easy to digest. He's willing to do some strong self-examination (seems necessary at times), but also has philosophical observations to impart about what he's learned in life. Many are interesting and almost avuncular when passed to the reader. Not usual for a pop personality's memoir, and unusual in that the book doesn't have all that much tell-all info or soapboxing around key accomplishments.More of an unvarnished, anecdotal view, sometimes told a bit too much from an older school pop male PoV considering Rundgren's intent and partial reputation as a caring humanist. He could have used a proofreader or editor (there are quite a few grammatical errors), but that's not why you'd read the book… Overall a good, quick read.

Review of THE INDIVIDUALIST in three paragraphs (after the style of The Individualist).
I placed my order with Amazon as soon as I heard about the book. They told me it was on back order and wouldn't be here until late January, but I got a nice Christmas surprise and here it is. The book is printed on heavy glossy paper with a stitched spine and no apparent manufacturing flaws. The color photos are precisely registered. This is a collector-worthy product. All the photos are collected in the back, almost as an appendix. My favorites are 1) the Olan Mills baby portrait of Liv, 2) the paired shots of Harry holding baby Todd in the palm of his hand and Todd holding his own son in the same manner and 3) Todd's smile posing with Freddie Mercury. We all know that the book is written in episodic form without salacious details. You might call it a plot-driven narrative of the moments in Todd's life that interested him. I am grateful that someone took the time to edit these vignettes in terms of standard English, as there are precious few usage errors.I love the 3-paragraph structure. In my years of teaching composition, this is exactly what I tried to drill into my students as the format of their essays: 1) Write what you experienced with your senses, 2) Write what you felt about what you experienced, 3) Write what you learned from your feelings and experiences. For 20+ years I have been teaching this and to have TR adopt this methodology gives me a great sense of satisfaction. His strength is in the first paragraph. He has a keen eye and good memory for detail. If he had been one of my students, we would have worked a little harder of the other two paragraphs. Those are often unsatisfactory, either hurried or deliberately truncated or obfuscated to preserve his deeper feelings.I learned that Todd is a Real Man, beyond the snapshots we get of him through interviews, songs, and stage persona. I was surprised at his vulnerability. We often hear "Todd is God," and of course we know he isn't but I have often put him in the category of an advanced human who has perhaps transcended most mortal afflictions by the sheer power of his talent and intellect. This book tells me, "Not so fast." He was deeply hurt by Bebe Buell and one senses that he may never be shed of the scars. The depth of his animus there is kind of surprising. But it's real.

Great book!
Just received this book a few days ago & I haven't read the whole thing. However, just a couple of comments. Some reviews are talking about low quality and grammatical errors. I find the quality excellent! Thick glossy paper, easy to read good size font for us older guys & interesting stories from Todd's life. All in a format that's interesting and enjoyable to read! With some great photos as well. Are there a few spelling errors? Maybe, but I haven't found them yet. Who cares. It's about Todd by Todd. That's what matters! I hope there is a volume 2 at some point. Buy it if you like Todd. You won't regret it!

Easy enjoyable read
Bought this by way of kindle simply because it was available before the actual book release.Got to say I really don't recall all the errors in the text that some people are experiencing, so it's possiblethat any mistakes was easier to rectify in the kindle edition. It's a totally engrossing read which any Todd fan will find hard to put down.Going off topic I'd love to know who was in charge of the get together for Todds 70th birthday celebrations at Kelburn Castle in Scotland last July. It was something I was really looking forward to until the pricing was released. It would have cost £2k for me and my wife to attend a 3 day event plus the cost of getting there and back. I don't think it's just me who found that a touch exorbitant. That sort of thing brings the cynicism out in people and certainly that's what it did to me. Ahhh..........and breathe. So, getting back to the book (kindle) it's a must read for anybody even half interested in Todd.As many have already mentioned the single chapter per page makes it a very easy and enjoyable read.

Great insight into the “Runt From Philadelphia”
Enjoyed the work. Quick read. Could have used a bit of editing. But, overall, very good. Some fun anecdotes and stories had me laughing... battling gladiators under the bridge, ha ha. Thanks to Mr Rundgren for sharing.
