Retreat in the Real World: Finding Intimacy with God Wherever You Are

The authors take their free and inspired online retreat and put it in book form. Reading on an electronic device meets my needs most of the time because I have a device on which to read with me all the time. Books don't travel with me as easy. This book is on my breakfast table and I use five minutes after breakfast to get my bearings, again, for the day's retreat. I notice that I get that reading in before the distractions I fend off when I go online. This book also serves as a reminder when I see it in the evening -- something my electronic devices don't do for some reason. I am at week 6 -- happy that I have this handy resource to help me make this retreat.

This is one of the best--most practical, relevant and well-rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius--retreat experiences I have seen for those wishing to significantly deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ in the midst of their very busy lives.

Until receiving guidance from Retreat in the Real World and with three other spiritual companions I have not found the time to become immersed in what is equivalent to a 30 day Ignatian Retreat. This at home retreat is focused and designed to be accomplished over 34 weeks, our small group meets monthly to encourage and share new insight. I am in my seventies and would recommend this book to anyone desiring a life review in the light of God's faithfulness and love. One of my goals is to write a spiritual legacy for my children and grandchildren. For a young adult discerning a life direction this book is ideal especially with a mature group or guide.

I have only begun this retreat but find myself thinking about it frequently throughout the day. That's the point, I think, to bring Christ into our daily activities. So far I'm enjoying the book and its helpful instructions.

Simple and great book to use with someone else and a spiritual director. If you want to grow spiriturally this helps.

I got this as a gift for my father...he loves it. It seems that it is working well as a tool for creating a spiritual autobiography. I know one of the priest who contributed to this book, he is incredibly gifted. Enjoy

A useful thing i imagine to have to carry around to read and, with a bible ,to look up the scripture readings for odd moments as an adjunct to the computer when the computer is not available.Dosn`t have all the aids that are available on the computer. So i continue using the computer and printing out some things each week. I imagine it would give a spititual director,group guide,companion on the way a good and useful overview.
