Physiology Demystified

I first used this line of books for prealgebra. I tested beyond the math requirements for the RN program. They just explains the subject so clearly. Better than I have ever had these subjects explained by a teacher and it gives me a deeper understanding of the subjects. I am using the biology and physiology books to refresh for the RN entrance exam. I am using the psychology and pharmacology to prepare for this upcoming semester because I need As.

This book starts with the bare basics and gently guides you through as the subject matter gets more complex. Very thorough explanations and analogies with a quiz at the end of each chapter to ensure you are up to speed. If that's not enough there is a sectional test every few chapters and a final exam at the end of the book. The author caters to those of us who lack short term memory by re-defining key terms and re-stating key facts (in a way that's beneficial, not superfluous)that may be necessary to continue to later chapters. This book is good value for money. It offers a interesting introduction to physiology. Fundamental concepts of human body functions are covered and the heavy illustrations are both useful and entertaining. In particular, I find the facts of common biological order and disorder helpful to the layperson.
