Good for area with no wind. Wind will damage it.
I like the umbrella design and look. The fabric is of very good quality. However, the aluminum used in the extending arm from the mounting bracket to the mid-point is very thin. I mounted this on our swim dock on the lake. The wind on the first use twisted and bent the extension arm. I took it down, took the brackets off, hammered them flat, then cut some heavy gauge angle iron (4 pieces). With these I sandwiched in the connecting pieces that bent. I used 7 new 1/4" x 2" bolts with nylon lock nuts to sandwich it all together. It works well now. I will try to post a pic with the umbrella extended with the US flag blowing in the background. This is a good umbrella in a closed area where there is little to no wind.

A good product at a good price
There are those that pay for tin and expect a bomb shelter. I think this is made well and at a fair price. The plastic cap for the support post came smashed. So until I get a replacement, water will get inside the mechanism. I put it up in less than 10 minutes. I just used lag bolts (and a torpedo level) into the sheathing and my vinyl siding. If it should come loose, I will get some heavy duty toggle bolts. The support post is 3 ft long. I'm about 6 ft tall so I measured 18 inches below that to locate my bottom bracket. It came out perfect. You will want to get a bigger adjustment pin that fits tighter. I expect to "help" it open so as not to put a big strain on the nylon cord. Watch the center and insure that the strut hub engages the vertical umbrella pole. There is a convenient handle for that. As well, you need to help it to closed. After it is closed, I just use a bungee cord around it to keep it in place. You don't want the wind to grab it. For me this is a perfect addition to my new patio. The only downside I see is that my dog has to shag line drives instead of pop-up flies.

Works for me!
I bought a "used" or refurbished one. The box was beat up a bit when it arrived but I saw nothing wrong with it. Looked like new to me. The only thing I did to modify it was drill out the hole where the pin goes and use a bolt instead. Adds to the stability of the umbrellaInstallation was very easy - less than 10 minutes- and the umbrella is a lot easier to take down or put up than the traditional pole in the center of the table variety. When there is a breeze, it does tend to move around a bit but it comes down very easily if things start to get out of hand.Would I buy another one? Yes but hopefully this ones last for awhile before that is necessary. The material on the umbrella does appear to be a bit thin.

Good concept but cheaply built
I bought this umbrella and paid extra for the one day shipping,,, well it didn't arrive. The umbrella made it the next day and I put it up easily and it looks great,,, however,,, one of the clips that hold the arms was broken. The clip is made of cheap plastic and half of it broke off on the first opening !! Great concept but poor construction. For the price I feel the clips should have been metal. I will try to find the parts,, but ,,,,,, I am running into dead ends there.

Looked good but terrible quality
Bottom-line, this umbrella is extremely flimsy. Cheap plastic construction meant that one "spoke" broke upon its second or third opening, and another one when we opened it again to try and jury-rig (i.e. duct tape together) the first broken piece. We ended up having to throw it out. Complete waste of money, plus we now have holes in the frame of our deck. Stay away.

Not in windy areas
Bought and installed quickly. First small amount of wind folded it up quickly and bent just about every piece, broken in so many spots that it may be cheaper to buy another on than to try to fix it. It looked great, but not for any amount of wind. Would recommend for a really sheltered area, we have a floating home on the river and will have to get something different.

Cheaply built, otherwise it's nice.
Cheaply built - the first one I had was broken within a month (the rope inside got all jammed up and I didn't have the patience to fix it). Other than the rather low quality parts, it does function - and looks better than the monster weighted hanging style you get at Kmart.

Fantastic umbrella
I just bought two of these for my backyard patio. They were easy to install and look great. I have them side by side, mounted to the back of the house and they provide plenty of shade.** Update 2017.03.24 **Going on 5 years with these. I still love the look and performance. I've had to replace the rope in one of the units as the original frayed and snapped. I bought some para cord and that works well.
