For the second time we had to rebuild my Kitchen-Aid mixer. I make a lot of breads so my mixer gets a workout when I use it. I could hear the gear slipping and knew what needed to be done. My son ordered the parts and jumped into it. He replaced the gear and the bushing, packed it with food grade lubricant and it works as good as brand new.

Gears seem to match the originals for fit and function. Time will tell how they wear.

The entire gear is supposed to be one piece in order to pass the torque from the large gear to the small one. However, it only lasted for about 1 minute before the large gear itself started rotating around the shaft and cannot pass any torque. Have to return it.

I thought my wife’s mixer had mixed its last batch of dough. I was able to repair it in short order. Make sure and order some food grade grease as well when making the repair.
