So glad I found this rice. I had no idea of the difference in taste from other "good" brands of rice. This rice is super good; sticky; premeasured for my rice cooker; makes great leftovers, etc. I kept ordering more & more, and then ordered some for a friend & had it shipped directly to her for her birthday. She too was in awe in the taste. I loaded up while it was on sale, because even at the sale price this rice is pricy, I guess because of the quality & that it comes all the way from Japan.

Possibly the best rice I've ever bought. The taste and texture are terrific. Also the grains are bit larger than most other sushi rices, which I like. The packaging is great too. The small packages with silica packs keeps the rice fresh. The 300g in each packet is also exactly 2 scoops of rice if you use a traditional Japanese rice cooker or similar.

This rice is so good you really can't screw it up. It was picked last April and is good until this April 23. It's Jan 5 23 right now so. I will use this well before then. The price is high though. Costs about 4 dollars to make 3 to 4 rolls. Works out ok if you just want to make your own cheap sushi without a protein but add in "sushi grade fish" costs and you might as well just run out for some sushi. My sushi rice vinegar is 10 parts rice vinegar, 5 sugar and 1 salt. I cooked up 300g of this stuff, and had to toss the bottom layer that browned in my cooler leaving about 450 grams of cooked rice left and I added 55g of my mixture to the rice and gently folded it in for about ten minutes. Turned out awesome.

Excellent rice. If you must complain about rice prices for a imported gourmet product, don’t blame the seller, get budget rice. If you want amazing, umami packed top quality rice, here it is people. Love the pre packed 2 cup packets. Each packet has a desiccant pouch, which is a great touch.. Wash the rice as a normal step to cooking any unwashed rice, Use a quality rice cooker for this and savor the difference between pedestrian rice and a super quality product. When I first opened my zojirushi rice cooker, I fluffed the rice and tasted some. At first I was disappointed as the rice seemed super soft. Let the rice cast off some steam for a minute and this product is just amazing. Perfect texture. Firmer than milky queen with just the right amount of stickiness. Amazing gloss and perfect flavor.

I have never eaten Nanatsuboshi before so we decided to give it a try. Obviously Koshihikari is better - much softer, stickier, and much more aroma. We use the same Japanese rice cooker we have used for decades. Theoretically the rice has a best by date of Nov 28, 2024 and milled date of Nov 29, 2023. Today's date is Oct. 13. Not this year's new rice. Most Japanese rice sold in US doesn't even have an expiration date.

I appreciate how they are measured out in individual pouches because I don’t make Japanese rice every day. They store well taking two or three out into my cupboard while I store the rest in my pantry. Premeasured and just enough product in each pouch for two people to have a great meal. Tip: make a double batch, store, some in your fridge for a wonderful Fried rice dish later in the week. I love supporting small farmers and trust the quality when it comes from Japan, rather than some other Asian regions.
