I purchased the pet odor plug-in fan.This little guy has changed my life. Our house is small--only about 1500 square feet and even though I work full time, I consider myself to be a full time housewife as well. I like things as clean as they come and pride myself on keeping a spotless home, even with our two kitty cats. However, I felt I was constantly fighting odor from our litter box, which we keep in our guest bath and is right around the corner from our main kitchen and living area.Our litter box is self cleaning (which we love) AND comes with a carbon filter itself AND we use litter deodorizes AND we change the waste bag every day, BUT STILL, every time I walked in the house, my house smelled, at best, ok, and at worst, like the stinkiest poop from our male cat. Every time I walked in the door, I immediately went into our guest bath to perform recon on our litter box, including turning on our noisy fan, opening the window, and putting baking soda into the box.I saw this baby in an article for great Amazon buys that "really work." I was skeptical, because there were some negative reviews and I'd never seen anything like this. That said, it came in the mail, I set it up (be sure to remove the plastic casing) with the carbon filter (I didn't use the scent cartridge because I loathe artificial or "extra" smells) and plugged it in to the outlet above my cat's food (which is in between the litter box and the door way) and about two feet from our litter box. After about 20 minutes with the fan turned on--NO SMELL from outside the guest bath. There is a faint litter odor once you step inside the guest bath and sometimes it's non-existent, BUT I WAS AMAZED. It truly neutralizes odors--litter, poop, and cat food. The fan does make some noise, but it's nothing compared to the noise the actual fan in my guest bath makes. It's not a mechanical hum, most of an airy sound. It might bother me in our bedroom or living area, but not where it is now.Not wanting to get ahead of myself (sometimes these things are too good to be true and I was scared the filter wouldn't last long, which would make the product cost-prohibitive for me), I waited to post this review for about a month after we plugged it in. Result: It is consistently working wonders in our home. I walk into our house and all I smell is clean house smell, no litter box odor. Sometimes if our cat takes a poop and doesn't cover it up, there will be a brief poopy smell right outside our guest bath, but it's quickly eliminated. Mind you, I still change our litter box poop bag every day and use a litter deodorizer, so you still must maintain your litter box. I would also imagine this fan wouldn't work as well in a larger space. Our guest bath is about 5x10. The carbon filter replacements are reasonably priced.Hamilton Beach, you've made a lifetime customer. Thank you for restoring clean delight to my home!

I have a lot of product to compare this to. But when no other purifiers were working, this one did the job.The small scented thing is also really powerful and pleasant. It’s definitely an added bonus that I appreciate more than I thought I would.I tried this without the scented clip first and within a day it accomplished so much! Also, it is very quiet.I’ll definitely be buying a few more of these.For reference I have a smaller home with 2 dogs, and a sped child and not well maintained carpeted areas. Smells happen and set in, and the air is heavy. This thing cleared the problem room of smells and made it easier to breathe in less than 24 hours but a notable difference after only a few hours- and 12 hours it was a livable / refreshed room for sure.After putting in the scent clip, only a few hours for the smell to be really pretty strong with the doors all closed. But even when the doors are open it’s subtle and pleasant and notably present. Be careful if you have allergies to ascents or perfumes I suppose, but for us this product is a life saver.

I've had my units for a little over a year and they're still running strong. I purchased one for my bedroom, since I had up 2 dogs and 2 cats sleeping in there with me, and you could definitely tell by the smell. I also put one in closer to the litter box, which unfortunately is in the master bath. My master bath is open up to the bedroom, and though there's a door, the people who built this place left part of the wall to the area open in order to accommodate the glass shower stall, much to my chagrin. So, I got it for that reason as well.I do feel that these help to reduce the smells, but I've noticed certain filters work better than others. I started to purchase the True Air filter for pets, since Amazon offers a 3-pack at great price. They have the initial pet filter found on the Febreze filters, but they also have a baggy/pouch of a sorts attached to the back, which I assume is filled with carbon or similar. However, I feel that I had better results with the basic Febreze filters, or maybe it's all in my head. It still works, but I just don't feel it works as well. Since I get Prime Shipping and they're less expensive, I'll probably continue to get them anyway, but may try to the old Febreze version one more time to test this. I also noticed that it's less dusty in my bathroom, which helps with my allergies some.As far as the unit goes, I do feel that they're well made and have lasted longer than I thought they would, considering the price. I also leave mine on 24/7. The fan does produce some "white noise," but it's much quieter than the bathroom fan. It kind of reminds me of computer fan when you boot one up. I can still talk on the phone and watch TV, and don't really notice it. I plan to buy more of these for the bedroom and put the initial 2 in the hallway and other helpful areas, since I don't care for the night light in my room. The light is adequate for lighting up spaces and is blue, which would be helpful at night in other parts of the house. It doesn't work too well in large, open-layout areas, unless you get several. So, that may be something to consider.If you're getting one for litter boxes, I would definitely recommend cleaning the area well and cleaning the litter box (or buy a new one). It'll help eliminate that initial cat smell, but it's not likely to help with old, residual smells all that well if it's too strong.I'd say that if you have one, and feel that it's not working as well as you hope, to try another filter. If you have pets, then obviously get one meant for pets if that's your goal. I do have to say my mother mentioned she doesn't smell anything when she visits, although I do steam clean before she does ha. This is also with one of those Litter Lockers in the bathroom as well (highly recommend if you're a lazy litter scooper). That's pretty good for so many pets though! I had mine off for about 2 months, due to lack of money and no filters, and definitely noticed the difference.

I normally don't write a review after having a product just 1 day. This gadget is amazing. I have a 20 yr old cat that has the most disgusting smelling poop of any cat I've ever had. I recently moved into a very open concept apartment. Every morning I dreaded opening my bedroom door and smelling that horrible smell!! I plugged this in yesterday afternoon. This morning no smell!! I thought he must not have done his business last nite. He did his business a couple times. I smelled nothing!!! I've invested a small fortune in air sprays & plug in warmers. Nothing worked until this.

Lo uso en el área donde mi mascota hace sus desechos y sí hay una gran diferencia de cuando este filtro está en funcionamiento y cuando no. No solo por el aroma, sino porque realmente se siente que el aire que se respira es más fresco y limpio, y cuando lo no tenía sentía que respiraba partículas.

Funciona muy bien, practico y funcional para eliminar cualquier tipo de olor
