Nice Lights That Help Elevate Old Fence
We installed a wooden fence a few years ago and used wooden fencepost caps. What a mistake! Many have split and become worn, but with a never-ending array of home projects to tend to, replacing them had been low priority. However, we recently had some sand delivered for a project and the driver pulled his truck up to our fence and then dumped the load, completely breaking one of our fencepost caps in the process. Because there was now a broken fencepost cap to deal with, along with the others that were well deteriorated, we decided to investigate alternatives and discovered these solar cap lights. We had admired other people’s fences in our community topped with solar lights, so we thought we would give these a try.The solar lights arrived very nicely packaged. They were individually wrapped in a sturdy box. Each light was intact with no damage and appeared to be well constructed. We immediately added the lights to our fence post but did not secure them with the included screw because we wanted to test them out for a week or two first. We had purchased solar string lights before that did not work properly or stopped working quickly, so we thought we would see how these do first. Although the lights arrived late in the day and only had a few hours to charge—not the 6 to 8 hours outlined on the instruction sheet--they worked beautifully and have continued to work well since. They provide quite a bit of light. The product specs indicate that each cap casts 400 lumens, which is the equivalent of about 30 incandescent watts. Looking at the lights, this appears to be accurate. The light is a soft white and lasts the whole night through. I am not sure if the same will be true in the winter when there is less sunlight, but even with minimal charging time, they worked well so we are optimistic. It is nice to have this extra light in out yard, especially since we have small dogs and sometimes must go out into the yard with them late at night or in the wee morning hours. Prior to buying these lights, our backyard had been a bit of a dark void, so it could feel a little spooky at times. These lights enable us to see the dogs much better and even provide a bit of a magical feeling with their soft glow. Because these are motion-sensing lights, the lights brighten a bit when people get close to the round sensor on the cap, which is another nice feature. The only issue we have is that our posts are 3.5 x 3.5 inch, and these are 4 x 4 inch, so they are a bit large for our fenceposts; however, they are fine secured with the screw and do not look odd. We debated building out the top of the post with some wood strips to make for a better fit, but we ultimately did not bother because we just do not have the time and read that a too tight fit is also not good for preserving the actual fenceposts. Basically, we are looking to get a few more years out of our fence, and while it is not pretty to look at, these new caps help elevate our fence a bit.The posts came in a pack of 4 and we will likely be ordering more soon to replace some of our other really worn fencepost caps. We like that these are super easy to install—just press the button below the cap, pop the cap on the post, and secure with a single screw—making them manageable for people like us who are limited on time and not the most handy.

Great lights
I saw the good reviews and decided to order 4 lights. They are very easy to install and they look great. The lights stay on and cycle through the different colors, until motion is detected. Once motion is detected, the lights turn bright white and provide a good amount of artificial lighting. They stay bright for about 10 seconds and cycle back to the changing colors once no more motion is detected. The lights definitely add a great look to fencing and decking. I liked them so much I just ordered 4 more.I’m not sure of the longevity of these lights, but so far I am very pleased and highly recommend them.

Simple, elegant
I wanted to give this a five star rating based on its simple elegance, especially when its competition is excessively ornate. In the end I gave it a lower rating because I had to spend extra time installing it. Using the provided screw as the means for attaching it results in a noticeably off center position. I also found out that insects will crawl into the space between the post and the unit. My solution was to use caulk between the unit sides and the sides of the post (not visible from the outside).Further, centering a unit on the end of a post is difficult because the caulk is fluid, reducing friction. I decided that the best way to install it was to caulk one or two sides and then center the unit so that when the caulk dried the unit did not move freely. Then I caulked the remaining sides. CAUTION - wipe off excess caulk before it dries because excess caulk makes the installation look sloppy. I used a flexible clear caulk.BTW - the increased brightness due to motion detection is useful. I'll update this if a problem appears.UPDATE 3/28/22 - no problemsThese use the PV panel to charge a lithium ion battery. The charge it hold depends on battery age. When the lights no longer stay on long enough the battery may need to be replaced. It can be done but you need to be careful. There are 7 very small screws to remove (see picture) using a small Philips screwdriver (like a jeweler screwdriver). Turn the unit upside down to access them. Carefully separate the top panel piece from the body, being careful not to break the thin wires. You can now carefully remove the battery and replace it with a new one. Screw the two pieces back together. Some post cap solar lights are sealed and you cannot replace the battery.

Very bright and beautiful
Easy to install, motion detector works great. They were a little big for my 4×4 wood post. But they are very bright when you are outside and all of them worked fine. My deck is in direct sunlight so that is a plus for solar lights

As advertised!
The media could not be loaded. Work great, and look great too! The motion activated white lights are good and bright so you can see, but the colors are dim enough so that they do not over power one another. Fit over a standard 4x4 post (3.5" x 3.5")

Work great!
Overall, I'm very happy with these post lights which replaced older ones (different brand and style) that no longer illuminated brightly after so many years of use and weather. Being new, naturally they shine brightly after a full charge and the added motion sensor is a plus. I look forward to a few years of illumination!

Quit after less than five (5) months
Like everything about these except life span. Have these installed les than five (5) months and one (1) has already stopped working, won't even light up. Is with in three (3) feet of another so certain not a problem of enough sunlight to charge. Amazon says contact the company for warranty, however no contact information available.

Works all night!
Pros:-Easy to install-Stay on all night until sunrise-Doesn't need much sun to charge itCons:-The light isn't bright at all. No meant to give you a better view. More for show-Check the dimensions of your post before buying. I had to triple check and slightly customize the cap to fit snug

Mood and atmosphere lighting.
We were quite surprised that these were easy to get onto our posts. These caps fit well. These 4 x 4 solar deck lights aren't super bright but they add a nice ambience to our deck.Love that they are solar!
