Brompton book
This book seems to give a great insight as to the overall ideas and uses of folding bicycles, giving an idea where they started from, and how they have evolved. This seems to clearly show the Brompton as one of, if not the clear leader in this field. The book gives some nice background information on the company, and how the bike itself has evolved in this time, giving details as to changes in each of the models, up to the most present. There is also a nice section showing some good basic maintenance tips for getting the best from the bike, and to continue its longevity.Overall a great read for someone thinking to buy a Brompton, or a great companion if you already are an owner.

Interesting but uncritical look at the Brompton
The author is also the editor of "A to B" magazine, a place where Brompton can seemingly do no wrong, and it's the same here. At times it veers into sycophantic. Don't get me wrong; we have two Bromptons here and I love them dearly, but they are by no means perfect, and it's a shame some of the weaker aspects of the engineering and construction aren't addressed. The production quality is a bit limited; it's an A5 book with an "inkjet printer" feel about it.

Concise history of the folding bike
This is a great history of the premier folding bicycle, Brompton, which does what other folders do except that when folded it is smaller and cleanerAnd when unfolded it really works. The book details the evolution of the marque and the thinking of its designer. Every Brompton owner should have one, though it would be preaching to the converted. David Henshaw is a long time convert and a knowledgable source on the subject. His articles converted me about twenty years ago. Reading this wor k could lead to Brompton addiction.

Excellent Book - Purchased a Brompton while reading
The book is really good. I was interested in purchasing a Brompton anyway and got this book to find out more about them. The book is excellent and really hardened my opinion that the Brompton was the way to go rather than other folding bikes. The book was smaller in size than I expected but the content is great and much more than I could find online about Brompton.I would really recommend it to anybody interested in Brompton bicycles.

1st edition of Brompton
Great intro to Bromptons and other folders. My only query is what mark is my 1996 Brompton? It doesn'nt appear to be listed in the various 'marks'defined by years.Ie It is does'ntseem to be a mark 1,or a mark 2,3 or 4.....Also,how do i trace my bike?It is in virtually new condition and the story goes that it was a present to a group of engineers for Christmas. However, it does'nt seem to have been used! The history section was facinating and the tips andmaitenance sections were helpful. Also, the frame numberstoo.WHAT CONNECTION DOES THE SERIAL NUMBER HAVE?aNY ADVICE APPRECIATED.cHEES,pOWYS pAUL

A good primer on the Brompton Bicycle
This provides a pretty thorough history of how the Brompton came to be. I bought it thinking it was more a maintenence manual but came away with a much deeper understanding of the company, its trials and errors and the people and various iterations of the design and manufacturing process. I enjoyed it and feel I “know” my Brompton better, both mechanically and historically.

Excellent book if you want to follow the development of Brompton's unique design journey.
Just got my Brompton bike a few weeks ago after many years of saving and research done on Brompton design evolution. The book has lots of pictures to support the text and broaden my knowledge of the product. Highly recommended. Local library does not stock this book but they should. Owning one for the price is worth it, at least for me. lol....

If you own a Brompton, you will appreciate this.
It includes a history of folding bikes aside from Brompton’s own history and evolution. I now appreciate my Brompton even more and the maintenance tips are quite useful.
