The Privilege of Love: Camaldolese Benedictine Spirituality

I am thinking of becoming a Comoldolese oblate and this book was recommended on their website. It is a wonderful collection of essays on their history and spirituality-. I highly recommend for anyone interested in these hermit/monastics.

This book containes lots of interesting tidbit glimpses into the Camaldolese life. Contains a good but brief bio of Romuald. The authors of some of the essays are themselves Camaldolese, currently living, consecrated monks and nuns.

I can't say enough about the beauty of this book. It is worth double the cost just for the chapters on Liturgy of the Hours and scripture study. There are simple chapters and complicated chapters. This is one book you will keep on your shelf for multiple readings and spiritual lifts over the years.

This book covers the history of the Camaldolese interpretation of the Rule of St. Benedict and has much to offer the layperson's application of this rule in our secular society. Our culture does not see the importance of solitude and quiet pursuit of God. I found it very helpful.
