The Whitehall Jewelry Box

PERECT for a big boy with a big collection. Tracks are just two wood slats, like other reviewers note. This becomes normal to you in a week. I softened the traction with mineral oil on the "tracks." The major downside to me was 12 instead of 16 compartments in the multi-squared draw. I bout a tray of similar color with 16 small cubes and placed it into the drawer with the ring slats in it. This worked well. Just look for a stacking tray you like of 1.25 inches or less -- and you can add that to the same drawer or the one that has no compartments at all. 1.25 inches high gives you tons of clearance. I like the ring slats and small compartments so I can keep cuff-links separated individually as opposed to storing as a pair. This prevent scratches. I never use the hooks, but there are chain hooks. I hate these. The chains always sag and can scratch watch faces in the watch slats in the top compartment. I use the catch at the bottom of the hooks (intended for pendants) for little papers that might come with watches, and maybe a card that comes with a piece that is hand crafted. This box is HUGE. It weighs 20 pounds full. Make sure it won't sag your bureau surface. I use a strong and narrow table. It is BIG.

The exterior is fine but the glides that hold the shelves were broken when it arrived. For such an expensive piece it is not made well

The first one arrived damaged but the box was fine, the second one arrived with no issues. Purchased for under $100 and it was an exceptional buy.

I bought this for about $149, total $163 with shipping.You will still find the same jewelry box for sale over $350.Listen to me carefully: there were insignificant flaws (2) to the lacquer finish (corner of one drawer, and one microscopic flake)... Which... I was able to make invisible with a dark marker and a couple of strokes of clear nail polish!!! This is the finest jewelry box, and the only one in the world for my dear wife in both size and it's high-gloss finish (which matches our furniture). Also, FYI: put a tiny piece of felt (or moleskin patch used for blister first-aid relief)... put a tiny piece on either the lids front two corners or the box itself to prevent the wood from slapping if the lid gets dropped instead of lowered by mistake. The locking turn-key latch is a tight fit, felt may prevent the latch from catching... but moleskin padding will become compressed over time and still suit the purpose. (It won't ever get locked in my home anyhow!) It is BEAUTIFUL!

Don’t buy

This is a beautiful jewelry box. Upon arrival there were no chips in the beautiful lacquer. I did not notice any issues with the drawers. I will be returning it however because it is much large than I anticipated. For those considering this beautiful box it is 14'' wide, 12'' deep and 12.5 tall. It is likely my fault for not inquiring previously but I thought it would be about half the size (was endeavoring to replace and reed and barton colonial jewelry box that was lost in a house fire). It is just too much jewelry box for me but if you have A LOT of jewelry and space to put this jewelry box than I can't imagine finding something more lovely for the price.

Perfect sized jewelry box. The drawers slide nicely..I just wish there were drawer stops. The exterior is very nice and suitable for public display

Christmas 2018 for daughter-in-law. Very heavy, with ample storage room. All components of box was beautiful. Heavy, seemless laquered finish, no chips, smooth drawers. Very happy with purchase. Well packaged from manufacturer. Did my homework and thought this was best value. Wish it had a mirror!
