Love this Cycling Computer!

Garmin Edge® 130 Plus. These are first impressions, as the item just arrived and after one ride:I followed the instructions provided to pair with my Garmin 245 Forerunner watch and NK heart monitor chest strap. No issues.Upon first inspection, this little powerhouse seemed a bit small, but in use, the display is clear, well thought out, and easy to read at a glance. Found GPS satellites quickly. Shows all the relevant data: heart rate, speed, distance traveled, and duration of the ride. The mount provided is intended for a bike stem, but my mountain bike, like many others, does not have a long enough stem for this type of mount. So I paired it with the Garmin 010-12563-02 Edge Mountain Bike Mount, which secures the little computer to the handlebar nicely. You can spend a lot more for a cycling computer, but this one hits the sweet spot for me, providing all the right data, at a fair price.

My wife loves it

Years later and this thing is still kicking! I've since upgraded for my own personal bike computer, but I've handed this down to my wife and she's loving it so far. It's small and compact, but the screen is easy to see and the GPS seems to work great!

Know what you're getting

I recently purchased the Garmin 130 Plus to replace my five-year old Edge 25, and to me it is an improvement in just about every way: new features, larger and sharper screen, quicker satellite acquisition, better battery life, and more customizable interface. I'm very pleased, but if you are coming from a higher end Garmin unit, or another brand, your experience may be different.I would like to comment on a couple of the repeated criticisms of this model, because they nearly dissuaded me from my purchase. I don't have any axe to grind for Garmin, but I think misinformed or misleading negative reviews are a bane for consumers.Regarding battery life, Garmin has posted a chart on their website, showing the estimated impact of different settings and device pairings. (There should probably be a link to this chart in the product description here on Amazon.) The respected expert reviewer DC Rainmaker has attested that the estimates in the chart are generally accurate, and this has been my experience. I am on track to get 12 hours from my first charge, with standard GPS, no phone or sensor pairings, no backlighting, no alerts, etc. If you need all those features, and take long rides, you should probably look for a model with a larger battery, but it will also be larger in size. The point is, you can estimate the battery life in your use case before you purchase.Regarding the user interface, I wish fewer button pushes were required to do basic functions, like starting a ride. It is annoying to have to choose the ride type on each ride. But, the significance of this should not be exaggerated. On an iPhone, it takes four steps to delete a batch of emails that are already in the trash, which is just as annoying. And Apple is considered the paragon of interface design. If you can operate a cell phone, you can learn to use the 130 Plus. And if you ride often, using it will quickly become second nature. If you absolutely want to minimize the use of buttons, then you should look for a model with a touch interface, but that brings its own tradeoffs. So far, my Garmin 130 Plus has performed as advertised, and without issue.

Great Kit

It's small, so if you need glasses to read/see up close don't get this. However, I absolutely love it! It pairs with the phone ap quickly. Battery lasts about 7 to 8 hours, that's why I'm giving it a 4. It's very basic, but easy to use. You can import routes from Ride with GPS and Map My Ride.

Great starter cycling computer

I love the Garmin Edge 130 Plus because of the LiveTrack feature through the Garmin Connect app. I’m not a very strong rider and ride in an area with steady traffic. Before I head out, I start LiveTrack and send a tracking link to my SO so that they have an idea where I am. This feature definitely works because they were able to locate me on the road on a day that I wasn’t on one of my usual routes. We’ve also tested the assistance alert which works, though luckily haven’t had a reason to use it.I use it on about 3 short rides and 1 long ride per week and only charge it about once every two weeks.
