Not an area rug.
The item is a lot smaller than what is shown in the picture. I did not check measurements accurately. It is a nice little bathroom rug more than an area rug. Otherwise it is very cute.

I did not know this was going to be a soft rug. Holy cow do my students love sitting on it and touching it though. So.stinkin.soft!!!
