Great product- easy to apply- excellent quality

I used this protectant on a bimini and dodger on a sailboat. I like the fact that this water proofer also includes a UV protectant. Something I normally would apply to the fabric with a separate product. Besides the duel protection aspect, I also liked the application being done with a pump sprayer vs an aerosol can spray. Initially I thought it might be a negative not being in a spray can, but it turned out to be a plus. I've used the spray can varieties for years and have always been irritated that a major percentage of the the fine spray gets blown away and never gets on the fabric. I found the pump sprayer to be a more accurate application method with better control. I followed the instructions and it worked as described. These are basically the same for all protectant products. The fabric needs to be clean and dry otherwise you are just waterproofing the dirt into the fabric. It's only been on for a short while, so I can't measure it's UV protection properties. The negative is that it is a considerably more expensive product that I usually use. I do believe that this is offset by it the reduced waste of the pump spray application vs the aerosol application. Aerosol can sprays are up to 15% propellant and not actual waterproofing product. The included UV protectant also means one less product to purchase and apply. The smell of the product is a bit stronger than I expected but it dissipated pretty quickly. I wouldn't care either way as this was a boat exterior application.

I just received this Gtechniq Marine Fabric Coat and couldn’t wait to try it out. I like that the bottle has its own spray nozzle and that it comes complete, so you don’t have to pour it in another container to add water. I made sure all of my items were clean before spraying them with this water proofer. I sprayed 3 pairs of winter boots, some coats, snow pants and shoes. Per their instructions, you must thoroughly saturate each item. I took the items outside to spray them so I didn’t have overspray in the house. I was glad I did because there is a smell to it. I then took these items in the basement to dry because it’s cold and damp outside. Now I just have to wait for some snow so I can test out the waterproofing. I also plan to use this spray on our tent and pop-up canopy in the spring.

Gtechniq is a well known name in the detailing industry as the manufacturer of higher end detailing products. They have recently started marketing items directed at the boating segment. This Fabric Coat is part of that line. I tested this on a new pair of canvas Crocs shoes I wanted to waterproof. Gtechniq understandably recommends thoroughly cleaning the fabric first. That wasn't necessary for my items as they were new. Beyond that, the directions are super simple...set the sprayer to mist and saturate the fabric. This product does have a strong chemical smell so I would suggest doing this outside or at least in a very well ventilated area. I sprayed my shoes outside and allowed them to dry overnight in my garage. The product dries without leaving any residue and water repellency is much better than any similar product I've used. The breathability of the canvas is unchanged and, as a bonus, my shoes now have UV protection. Although certainly not inexpensive, this is a superior product.

I bought this to protect the fabric covers I have for my boat. The smell Was very strong so be sure to use this outside. It goes on easy and dries quickly. I am hoping that it works well on these covers. I have to change them every 2-3 years because of rot. Hopefully this will extend that time. I gave it 4 stars because it will take a few years before I really know if it works on my covers. Fingers crossed!

My bottle had leaked a little in transit, and I was blown away when I went to rinse off the container that it wouldn’t rinse. I tried blue Dawn to remove it next and it wouldn’t budge off the outside of the container using just my hands and hot water. It required dawn powerwash and some serious scrubbing to get it off the outside of the container. It felt a little rubbery and a lot water impermeable. Our boat is under cover for the winter, but I can’t wait for spring so I can saturate every seat on it. I’ve used 303 aerospace protectant in the past, but this stuff is like alien technology better. I’ve been thrilled by every gtechniq product I’ve ever used. The minds behind this brand are brilliant.

I got this to waterproof the canvas bimini top on my boat. The bimini measures approximately 25 sq ft. The included sprayer made it very easy to saturate the canvas and I used about 3/4 of the bottle to fully waterproof the bimini. It dried fairly quickly, about 30 minutes, and then I noticed that the color of the canvas was darker, like it had been restored to its original color. I've used many other waterproofing products and have not seen this color change with other products. Most importantly, this product was very effective. After my bimini was waterproofed and had dried, I sprayed it with water and there was no seepage of water through the canvas. The water simply beaded up and ran off.
